I have been on the market for peg extenders for some time. I even bought a couple that looked real good, but were built to fit most any exhaust. That means they would shoot out from the bikes 3" to 4" before the would drop down 3" or 4". This made my wife uncomfortable with her feet sticking way out to the side, plus with my wife at 5'11" and my youngest daughter at 6'2" I needed them to drop lower.

I decided to make my own. I have an 03 1800R with V/H bigshots. I wanted the extenders to fit close and drop 6". Well I came up with a simpe design that works pretty well and is easy to build.

After using them for a while my no longer has lower back pains on long rides. We just finish over 500 miles in one day and she had no problems. Her body is positioned where she feels more secure on the bike and can relax more.

Here are a few of the pictures.

The extension can swing up for cleaning of the pipes.

Notice knees are not in the air and sitting is relaxed.

She did this to distract me....she did.

Nice work! I make most of the stuff on my bike, now all I have to do is find a person to do some chroming at a reasonable price. I make these highway pegs for less than 10.00. I found the rubber on the roadside. It beats the 300.00 price tag on most of what I see. Now I can ride more miles with the same kinda satisfaction!

Nice pegs,

I am looking as well for a chrome shop. My brother who lives near Atlanta knows of one, but I would like to find someone closer.

Did You mount the Highway bars to large bolt forward of the floorboards?

Hey, BigMac, I have a neighbor with a Shadow who is quite interested in what you've done. Looks like you have a market if you want to make a few. LMK if you're interested.

thanks!

I'll be glad to help anybody out. I sent you a PM with my phone and email.

Call me stupid, but I don't know what LMK means.

I got them at the dealer when I bought the bike (part of the $1000.00 worth of free acc.). They are Cobra's.

Since this was my first bike in nearly 30 years, it was a hard reality check on how expensive the acc have become. It seems like nothing is under $100.00. The chrome for the tank and fenders was about $7.00, but I got that at Auto Zone. (a role of chrome bumper guard)

No kidding about the cost of things, I've heard it said that a bike is just a down payment on accessories.

Very creative idea with the chrome bumper guard. That's my problem, I can't look at something like that and figure out a different use for it so easily.
