Welcome a board Jim.
You'll enjoy your time here learning and having fun along the way with some great people.
I ride up HWY 12 to Powell Ranger station/Lolo Pass. Plans are for AUG, my heart longs for next weekend. I'm hoping to make it further north next year.
Not a whole of activity around the Idaho board, I know there are some Spokane riders on the forum.
I have a link or two for NW riders I'll try & find them and post later.

Welcome to my neck of the woods. The riding in North Idaho is fantastic and just the ride around the lake is 122 miles mostly in in 3rd or 4th gear. Road is good all the way to the Canadian border and Glacier Nat.Park is only a 4 - 5 hour ride. Hope to see you soon as I get back from Baghdad later this month.

I assume you are in the Military... If so what branch? I will be in CDA at the end of the month as well -- looking forward to meeting you.

Do you know what the Patriot Guard is? Are you familier with them at all?

Had my bike in CDA last Summer... did the CDA lake ride loop, rode a loop to Spokane then rt 2 I think, ended up in Sandpoint and came back down 95 to CDA... Rode into Montana to the Koot. Falls (Libby) then home again

I was Army for 9 years and have been out for the last 12. I have been working with the military outside the wire for the last 3 plus years and I am looking forward to comming home to spend time with the family and friends.

I have heard of the Patriot Guard but don't know any thing about it.

A ride up the CDA river is good next month and even better if you bring a fishing pole. By then the water will be down to a good level and the road cleaned up from the flooding.

jim...nice to "see" a familiar name here...hope your move goes well...i recently joined thr PGR...you can google them and find out all about the org....if i remember, there is a contact (state captain) up in sandpoint...i never took the opportunity to serve in the armed forces...i have lost a few friends and family that did serve...the PGR is a way that i can say thanks to all those that have served and continue to do so...i will look for a name for contact info, unless you find it first...sounds like a ride north might have to be planned...

Jim - My wife and I are over in the Spokane Valley area. Next time we head out to go around the lake or up north through Newport and Sandpoint I will shoot you a note to see if you can make it. Another nice ride from our area is the Selkirk Loop. http://www.selkirkloop.org/ We did this last summer over 2 days and are planning it again this year - hopefully over 3 this time, but work and the little ones make it hard to get away. Another ride that we would like to get in is to Glacier. Welcome to the area and you will see that there are a lot of beautiful rides up here and not as much traffic to worry about. Erik
