I just got off the phone with Rick. He is home but very sore. He was riding on the childrens charity ride that left seatle 1ooo bikes strong. They were on I90 in the tunnel when someone started to cut him off thats when his front tire came from under him while brakeing. He thinks the bike will be a total. I'll talk with him tomorrow as he has visitors right now.

Hello Rick, sorry to hear the news...I hope you have a speedy recovery...if you need ANYTHING let us know...
We both wish you well!
Russ & Leslie
I hope you heal up quick Rick.
I just went through the Mercer Island tunnels on I-90 yesterday on the way to Alki and the guy I was riding with told me that when we went through he was not able to see anything inside because his sunglasses didn't transition and it just got too dark. It was dark for me too but not as bad I guess.
If your bike turns out not to be totalled and I have any spare parts you can use they're yours for the taking.

Was at the Childrens ride and saw the pile up. I hadn't met Rick yet, but saw it was an X.
I hate to say it, but this was the most dis-organized big rally I have been on. There were more bikes cutting in and out of lanes, and the police who were supposed to be stopping traffic were non-existant past the tunnel.
Sorry this happened Rick. Good luck with a speedy recovery and that Mojo thing.

Thanks everyone,it was just a unfortate thing, we were crusin about 45 miles per hour and just made it thru the second tunnel and I noticed that everybody was slowing down and was appyling the brakes and then this other bike came over to my lane and i had to apply more brake and then the next thing i was rolling down the freeway, i must of locked up the front tire, then my bike slid into the other bike and knocked a man and woman off there bike, big bummer, i have a lot of road rash and a hairline fracture of the shoulder blade, ihave not got to check out the bike yet real good, my neighbor buddy and i will pick it up in the morning, and get the insurance guy over to give me a idea, what has to be done, i am to fat and old for this, but will get her back on the road as soon as possible, cant believe i am up at this time of night typing with one finger eating pain pills, anyway everybody please ride safe and will keep ya all updated, thanks Matt for the offer and i will be getting a hold of ya ...........   at least i had full coverage insurance and towing and 4000 $ worth of accesories which is not enough but better than none, i will post a pic of the helmet one of these days, it served its purpose on this :mcrider: :mcrider: one :mcrider: :mcrider:

I'm sorry to hear of the accident. It's bad enough when you hear of this happening to any rider out there. It's far worse when you know the person and they are one of the group. I know a lot of people have asked if you need anything and I do the same. Please let us know if there is anything we can do for you to help out.
Take care and get better soon.

Hey Ric - real sorry to hear about the mishap - very glad it wasn't more serious. Like everyone else, let me know if you need anything. We wish you a speedy recovery and hope to get you back on two (or is it 4 with the trailer) wheels soon. :)
Should we set up a food delivery service for you - don't want you to fade away to a shadow while you're rebuilding the bike. :chef2: :D

I am glad to hear thae RIBBONE is OK considering the ride and the difficulty of seeing in those tunnels. I saw that the bike was a VTX, but did not see much beyound that as I was trying my best to play it safe with my wife on the back.
I was one of the folks helping sign folks up for this ride, so I ended up at the back of the pack. Police escort was lacking from the tunnels on. Once we got on 405 and 167, we seemed to break up into small packs and tried to stay together as best as we could. I think they will be rethinking the ride route next year. (if they do the same venue, maybe I90 to 18 and then back to Auburn?) The sound of all those bikes starting up and leaving Seattle and going through the tunnels was really something. I needed a automatic camera!!

Hey Rick -
I hope that you heal quickly. It's definitely not fun to feel the road underneath you after being on the bike a second before. I can only imagine what it's like when you're the driver. I'm glad that you're (relatively) okay. You'll be feeling this for a long time. Hopefully we'll see you out and about a lot sooner, rather than later.

I spoke with Rick tonight and the initial damage estimate is almost $7000. The bike is going to Matt's for further checking. BTW, Rick said he's a little sore   , but still planning on Mardon. He said something about paying for bbq and didn't want to miss out even if he has to cage it over

If he's not too embarassed to ride a little 1100, I have a Shadow he can use if his shoulder is up to it. I dunno about any trailering or a trailer hitch. Maybe someone can haul the stuff that would normally be in the trailer. At least he could get some seat time in. Just let me know.

Rick,
I can haul your stuff since I'm driving the pickup over with the bike in back and travel trailer behind. Let me know. Hell, we can even through you in the back end with the dogs if you're desparate  If you're still too sore to ride/sleep on the ground, we can probably even workout a deal for an extra bed in an air conditioned trailer (might cost you some ribs...mmmm...I do loves them ribs) :beer3:

Talked with Rick this morning. He's definately planning to be at Mardon. I suspect he believes that Ed's BBQ ribs will have some type of magical "healing" powers. We may have to slaughter an extra pig
Glad your doing ok buddy. Call again if you need anything.

Rick,
Todd and I were very sorry  to hear about your accident. Glad to hear that your doing well and that your bike is repairable. Looking forward to seeing you at Mardon. I found something for you while on vacation and will bring it to Mardon. Nothing big just saw it and thought of you.
Take care and again, were really happy :D to hear that your okay.
Oh, and take it from someone who knows, follow your doctor's orders, don't overwork that shoulder, you want it to heal properly.
See you on the 18th and 19th.
