Is everyone just out riding everyday? I thought this board would get busy in the summer.
Where is Jason/banick07 (sp?) He usually gives us something to read.
What is everyone doing for rides this summer? I went out to the Hills 2 weekends ago. The July 18th weekend, we are going to hopefully make it to LaCrosse for the VTX gathering there. And we going to Sturgis/Hills the weekend of August 1st. And then I would like to one in late August or Sept to the Arkansas area.
Hey six. About 5 of us are heading down to KC the 2nd week in September. Maybe we can work our ride in with your Arkansas ride.
Also I might be heading through your State 2nd or 3rd week in August to Wyoming. If any of you want to tag along your welcome to. I don't have any details yet, but was thinking of leaving MN after work on a Thursday and being back Sunday night. I might have 2-3 riders from MN with me.
If anyone is interested I can put together more details.

Road in the WIND Saturday - 146mi testing the route of a poker run I'm working on for September.
More info later... but save the date Sept 6th for a possible poker run/car show/rib feed/dance in Vermillion. It's a little early to call right now... details yet to be worked out.
Was to bike to hills middle of July, plans changed.

Hey guys, I'm here......I've been crazy busy this summer trying to get the basement put back together, I recently started a new job, so that has been taking up a lot of time as well.
I've been trying to get out and ride as much as possible, last weekend I took the bike up to Pickerel Lake which is about 30 miles or so North of Webster SD. I had a weeding to go to, I loaded up the backpack, left the wife at home and hit the road! The ride up was great! But I had to be back home by 9:30 Sunday morning which left me riding home at 6:45 in the morning with 2 hours of sleep and a bad hangover  It wasn't to bad until I hit the interstate....I tell you what, with no windshield going 85-90 for that long......lets just say I'd take the Hwy any day over the interstate! All in all it was a great time, the weather was great for both the ride up there and back and the bike ran like a top!! The one bad thing that happened was on on Sun morning. I was leaving the lake hoping to make it to Webster before the tank ran dry. I was about 10 miles out when she stalled. I switched her over to reserve going about 75 and fired it back up. I made it to Webster no problem, but once I got to the pump, I realized that I didn't have a wallet  I started thinking and the night before, my best friend and I were drunk and stupid and got in to a wrestling match by the campfire.....damn thing fell out of my back pocket and was laying in the grass somewhere!!! Well......I had to go ask the clerk if I could leave her my backpack, fill up with gas, and go get my wallet. Thank god she was cool or else I would have been screwed!! So yeah, I ended up driving back and forth to that damn gas station more than I wanted to with only 2 hrs of sleep......needless to say I didn't make it home on time and the wife was pissed on top of everything else!!
Anyway, I hope you all have a great 4th....keep in touch, those of you who have my#, give me a call some time, it seems like most of my riding buddies are no longer riding, it's always nice to get together with you guys and hit the road!

Hey Jason - nice to hear from ya again! Whats the new job or is it top secret?
Yea those interstate speeds can be brutal. When we went to the Hills, we took 450 miles to get to Deadwood, most of it 85 or so when we got there I was ready to do another 300 easily, The difference....my full face helmet I started wearing. Truth be told, I love it. After decades of NEVER wearing a helmet, and trying various half helmets which all of them tried to pull my head off my neck, I bought a new full one and gave myself 30 days to try, I committed to 30 days with it every time I got on the bike.
The good -
I can breathe without having to cover my mouth to catch a breathe.
I cant believe how COVERED the shield is in bugs between fill ups. I would eat all those before. 2 different direct hits by some flying or jumping creature would have surely knocked me off my bike!
Ventilation is good and only hot when stopped and then just pop the shield up.
Wind noise is reduced but can still hear the bike good.
Kinda like the full helmet, "who is behind the shield" looks I get.
The bad -
Side vision is reduced slightly, have to get used to turning my head more when changing lanes etc.
When riding with others, its hard to communicate.
Putting it off and on many times during errand runs and stuff.
Anyway, I have worn it every time now for 2 months. Added bonus is that I dont want the last sound I ever hear is my brains spilling out onto the asphalt.
Ill check up with you soon. later

Yeah man, I think a full faced helm is definitely in order for my next long ride. We are headed up to the MN Canadian border for a week the end of July. Going to trailer the bike most of the way, but plan on dumping her off about 200 miles or so before our destination. I know what your saying about the wind ripping your head off when wearing a half helm, my neck was so damn cramped after this last trip it wasn't funny!! Anyway, check out my latest post and tell me what you guys think. It would be cool to throw together out own little ride and go check out all the cool bikes that I'm sure will be out!
