We've enjoyed some great RTEs and adventures so far this month. One more July '08 Saturday and I'm wondering what we can do to send the month out in style. What do you think?

I say we do a RTE somewhere around Augusta again but different restaurant...

But then again, that may not work for me. I can't commit to anything that weekend. My 50th is coming up and I don't know what the bride has planned.

Decisions... Decisions ... Decisions !

I had to do that all my life and I thought when I retired that would all end.

Not a chance in hell.

First decision was to decide what to do with all my time…
So I decided to buy a motorcycle.
Then I had to decide which motorcycle did I really want.
Now that I own four and still don’t know which one I like the best….
I have to decide which motorcycle do I want to ride each and every day!
And… Oh Man.…
All the decisions to make on what Mods to do on four cycles is absolutely madding!!!!

AND NOW YOU WANT ME TO DECIDE WHERE TO RIDE TO ! ! ! ! !

GHEEEEESH….. Give Me a BREAK !

Lacey and I will be in the Gatlinburg/Dragon/Cherokee area that weekend anyway.

We are gunna take a trip up the last week of July.

It would be great to ride back down with a group.

BBQ!?! :chef3: It seems that Bardo had the same thought. Of course, the "best" BBQ is in Augusta at Sconyers BBQ http://www.sconyersbar-b-que.com/. But, that's a little far for a breakfast RTE and they don't open until about 10:30.

Of course, if someone wants to do a Breakfast RTE on the Southeast quadrant of Atlanta (i.e., Logansville, Conyers, Madison) we could find our way to Sconyers for lunch. We could, for example, do the DAMN Ride and visit all three damns on the Savannah River (Hartwell, Russell, Thurmond). Of course, that would be a 300+ mile journey from downtown Atlanta.

Just an idea.

Well, now this might be a possibility. It's 2.5 hours to Cherokee from Atlanta. We could have a Saturday "Brunch" before riding the BRP over to I-26, head south to US 64, and then ride it back towards home.

Let me know how your schedule develops.

Hey guys, let me know if this develops into anything. Dad and I thought about Suchess this weekend, but if there's a group thing heading up to Cherokee that may be a better option.

Keep me posted!

No rideing for me this weekend. We leave on our BRP/Skyline trip next week and I have things to get done before we leave.

Mike, I hope you and your bride have a wonderful journey. If you need any "local" info I'll be happy to help. One word of advice, stop at US 58 for fuel rather than at Fancy Gap and don't leave Roanoke without a full tank because there's no easy access to fuel until Rock Fish Gap.

Also, (OK it's more than a word, sorry!) Mrs. Rowe's on US 250 just east of Staunton, VA is a real treat http://www.mrsrowes.com/index.htm. You will not believe the variety of pies on their dessert menu.

Loganville has a great mom and pop place for breakfast...of course I eat there all the time. That would be a great starting point. 8)

What did y'all decide?

Sounds like a great place, Elco. Its a bit late to RTE tomorrow morning. Please make sure they can handle a sizable group (10 or so) around 8:30 on a Saturday morning. Then, call a RTE in early August. There are a lot of wonderful road in you neck of the woods so it should be a blast!

Looks like we failed to achieve "critical mass" on a group ride for tomorrow. So, I'm going to zip up to Cherokee to relive the joys of the southern section of the BRP.

Hope everyone has a delightful and dry weekend!

Ride safe,

Jim
