Going in to work this morning and Speedo went crazy and then went off. Then bike started cutting out real bad and I barely made it back home. Had similar problem a few years back when aftermarket tach wire was shorting against frame. That is not the problem this time. Bike has 73,000 miles on it and I just returned from Alaska trip last week. If anything could shake loose, I am sure that trip would have shook it loose. My experience with electrical shorts is less than encouraging. Anyone have any ideas on where to start?

Try the tech board...
Verify that the battery connections are both solid, particularly ground. Then go find the ignition modules and verify that they are each grounded properly. That's all I can think of

Thanks, I didn't realize I had posted on the AK site until it was too late. One of the other's gave me a real good site about electrical grounds. We will see. I don't think I will get to it until this weekend. I'm just glad it didn't happen when I was up in your country. I went from Chicken to Dalton with less than perfect weather conditions.
