we went to poopies in iowa this weekend . it is at the miss river area . il and iowa border . we took 52 all the way out and then 80 back . the food was good and it was a nice biker bar more upscale nice covered pavilion live music . if you want to make a all day ride you may want to look into it . just look it up online . just a heads up.

how was the ride on 52? was it nice and scenic? I may be going to galena in september with some folks for an overnight stay and they talked about stopping at poopy's. Thanks for the heads up. If i'm not mistaken, that place is in savanna, ill.?

Yep, Poopies is in Savana, IL. Great bar, service area, souvenirs, great ride there via country roads. The two times we were there, on Sundays, it took over an hour to get food. Very quick with beverages, food was good, but do not be in a hurry for it. That was our experience anyway. If you find that you over indulge in the beverage they even allow you to pitch a tent and spend the night. The ride up the river to Galena is excellent, cruise through the Mississippi Palasades Park, there are some great overlooks there. In the fall it is sure perty, lots of colors if you catch it right. Last year "onlyvtx" organized a great ride to Galena, with some great roads.

well DAD beat me to it . and ya dont be in a hurry it took 1.5 hours for food but the drinks do come fast . 52 was ok not as good as i hoped but ok the last 18 miles beat me up the road was new and rough as hell. it does take twice as long on 52 than the high way . ps the nachos rocked ! the burger was ok not as good as the other food .

We travel all the time on Rt 52 through Amboy-Dixon -Polo into Lanark where my In-laws are at. Poopys have pretty good food and the Palisades park in Savanah is nice.

I believe the shad flys are done this time of year :lol:

As said the food does take a while to get it.
