Riding the Mississippi

Hi everyone,
I am looking for any input on scenic ventures along the mississippi besides the river itself, which is a great view.
I will be staying on the river at Winona MN, traveling along the west side down to Clinton IA. I will be returning on the east side to La Crosse up to Duluth, any input would be great.

You will have a woundeful trip, My Dad lives in Clinton IA and I have been down both sides of the river many times.

When coming up on the east side (IL and WI) one stop that a must is POOPY'S it is a great stop and good food. This is in Savanna IL on HY 84 (Great River RD) stay on HY 84 into the down town and hit the Iron Horse Saloon fun biker Bar with alot of old bikes inside (West side of street). If you have time another stop would be in Galena a very neat old town, lots of stuff to see and do (My WIFE loves this town and my pocket book hates it!!!!!) The Stage Couch Trails is a very cool ride but will lead you away from the river.
As far as up north Wyalusing State Park is very nice and some great riding. Park overlooks Mississippi river and Wisconsin river neat park.
