Aimee is signed up for the MSF basic rider course to get her m/c edorsement! The weekend in LaCrosse at the rally really got her excited and the week in Sturgis confirmed it.
She is doing the MSF course in mid Sept. Hopefully get her out riding some after that.

UPDATE -- No pics yet though, they will be coming soon I hope.
Aimee got her "permit" the other day so we have gone out twice now. She is signed up for the MSF course in middle of Sept.
Man, this is more nerve racking for me than her!!! I am a nervous wreck! First, we went to the Hutch Tech big ole empty parking lot for about 45 minuntes, I just had her start and stop a bunch and ride around in first and second gear. She did good, stalled it a couple times, normal stuff. She is going to need some practice in the clutches friction zone! Then we went for our first ride, she followed as I went much slower than I am used to going. About 30 miles and stopped in at Bike Nite at J&L and then called it a nite. Went last nite again for just 20 miles or so and she said it went better and felt more comfortable.
I am trying not to overload her with too much, just giving her some info here and there to chew on. She says I am a terrible teacher? Oh well, I do get alittle intense at times. I just want her to be safe and WATCH and anticipate everything like I try to do.
I really want her to get the MSF course completed, but it will be soon enough.
Whats kinda funny to me is that when I got my V45 (750) Magna in 1983 its was considered a BIG bike, sure there was a few 1000s, 1100s and even the GIANT 1200s around, but still the 750 was considered big. And now the 750 is my wifes first bike and smaller than what alot of women ride. Times change and I am getting old I guess.

Awesome! Sounds like fun.
Even just a small amount of riding experience helps a ton when going through the MSF course. Makes it much easier on the instructors. Just don't teach her any bad habits that will have to be broken later (wheelies, burnouts, etc.)

I looked those pipes up and they show different part numbers for the ACE and the Spirit models, but I did email him anyway. There are modified stock pipes, they sound ok but not great.
Any Shadow/carb experts around here? I have a exhaust popping which I think is a slightly lean condition. I found a large Shadow forum but cannot get an email with the activation code sent, tried several different names and emails and emailed the moderator, but no reply at all. Frustrating.

Ah, carb jetting. Fun stuff. I've only had the pleasure twice - both on Harleys (Japanese carbs) It was a bit of a crap shoot.
See if you can download a service manual for the carb diagram. http://www.repairmanualclub.com/index.php?cid=6
It would be nice to find someone with the same pipe mod that can recommend proper jet sizes. Otherwise, you'll have to buy a handful of jets and use the ol' trial and error method by looking at the color of the plugs. If you're not worried about the perfect air/fuel ratio, you may be able to step up the jets size until it quits popping. I wouldn't know where to start though.
If you decide to tear into it, pick up a set of japanese screwdrivers. Your standard screwdrivers will strip the screw heads in no time. http://www.centralhobbies.com/Tools/jis.html
Very cool! Plus she's got matching him & her saddlebags
Aimee looks good on the bike. I'm sure she will be a pro by next July when we so you at the Rally :mcrider:

Hey Caps! Yea, shes doing great. A little shaky at first but has about 400 miles done now and is pretty comfortable. Get the MSF course done in a couple weeks and we should be able to ride another 400-500 miles this fall yet, so next summer she should be up to speed. The LaCrosse rally is what made her decide to ride her own. She had so much fun with everyone. Heard talk of a girls only ride in 2009? Probably would have enough ladies to fill it up! Cool.

six, there will be an official "Chick Ride" put on by Jeanne & Martha (Scribe & NoHarley) from Wisconsin. The info will be on the new website at the end of January. Dru will probably go on that along with XN's wife. So there for sure will be at least 5 ladies but I bet it gets up to more than 10 easily. That would be a cool photo shot and a very cool tradition to future MMR's

The MMR got Brenda fired up to do her own ride too. She's doing the MSF next Thursday and has been running around on a 250 Suzuki. Been doing the parking lot thing.....she's out grown that and we are now hitting the streets. Unfortunately, we can't do alot of street riding as I don't have a title and hence no plates on the bike.
I am amazed at how well she has taken to it. She's doing great and once she got over the initial unease she has done great.
Haven't picked her bike up yet.....I was leaning toward the 750...but she has decided that she wants the 1200 Nightster. Probably pick it up in spring.
Glad everything is working out for Aimee......she looks great on that bike.
MMR 2009 should be a blast.....I may have to put on a skirt and sneak in with the ladies
