I want to change the stock pipes and have BUB Chambermaids. Bike is in for service at Mickey Finns, but they won't do the exhaust switch with the PCIII. They said they had too many problems with the power commander burning out computer chip for the fuel injection system. Anyone have any suggestions?

I have a power commander on mine...2003 1800C....it was put in at libbys withcobra pipes....ran for the summer last year...this spring I changed the pipes to the hardkrome, and no change to setting on commander...have had no troubles....problems....6 k miles

I might even call the service guy at libbys and ask....I'm not sure I understand what the guy at your dealer is saying as there have been no posts anywhere talking about the injection system/commander troubles

I was kind of stunned myself. I had not heard of issues either when they told me no.

David I feel your pain!!My bike is at Mickey Finns as well right now :(
As far as I know about the way that service department feels about changing the pipes and putting in a PCIII is they don't want to be bothered with them, because if there is an issue they are not equipped to handle it.I've done the pipes and installed the PCIII,no problems :D ,performance was fine with the injection, good luck! :tools1:

David,
Have only heard of an aftermarket chip eating a computer and that was on a Volkswagon...nothing like that from any of the fuel controls that are available for the X. I can understand their point to some extent...if something goes wrong (which they have probably had happen and that's why they won't do it) , they're going to take the brunt of it! So brother...when we installing that exhaust and pcIII  ??? Keep us posted!!

There pulling your leg . PCIII in my opinion is the best fuel management unit for the price. Very user friendly and allows you to tweak settings and download different maps for different pipes, intakes ect. There probably too incompetent to handle the install. Libbys will do it. If any dealer does it they will probably use the "wire tapping clips" or "vampire clips" that come with the Power Commander and they DO NOT make a good connection for long term. These clips are used to "tap" into the bikes electricial system. They are very convienent and easy to use. People here have been stranded because there bike just died or began running poorly when corrosion sets in due to these clips. The connections should be soldered and taped or heat shrinked. If you do a search you will find out directions on how to do it.
