Well, after some time of hanging around this board being a wanna be, I finally sold my Suzuki Bandit and bought a 2006 VTX 1800 F model. I've put on about 150 miles in my first weekend of riding and have already found that I might want to look into an aftermarket seat. Any advice based on experience from anyone here? Anyone have an aftermarket seat for the F model I could put a few miles on? Thanks.

I know alot of people that bought "brand" seat and didnt like it at all. I would look into getting the stock one recut and reshaped with memory foam added at http://www.meancitycycles.com/index.php

That is what I am going to do with my wifes shadow seat this winter.

My brother just bought a VTX with this seat mod already done. Let me know if you're going to be in sioux falls some time, and I'll get you in contact w/ him.

The stock seat definitely sucks. I'm going to purchase a new one in the near future. Not sure which yet, but I'm eyeing the mustang daytripper. I'll let you know if/when I get one so you can try it out. It's tough to drop several hundo on a seat without at least sitting on one first.

Does your brother have a F model X? If so, maybe I could make it to Sioux Falls some time and see what it feels like. Any idea which mod form Badx was done?

He's got an N model. He just bought the bike, and doesn't know what type of work was done to the seat. Previous owner just said it was a BadX mod. If you're interested, I would think my bro could call the guy and find out.

I had the memory foam from Bad-X on my F model seat and it was the poo!

Thanks for the info everyone. I emailed badx and they recommended the double decker memory foam due to my larger size and previous back surgery. I think I will send it in this winter to have it done. If it is as good as it sounds to be I will be very pleased. $140 bucks for the driver's seat mod and maybe another $100 for the passenger, compared to $500-$600 for mustang or ultimate, what a deal!
