Tuesday is Bike Night at Suzie Q's - if that works for folks, here's a tentative route:
Meet the south coast contingent at Denny's in Coventry around 6 (since you already know where it is and it's on the way)
West on New London Turnpike (opposite of where we went Wednesday) to Rt 3
North on Rt 3 to Harkney Hill Rd
West on Harkney Hill to Rt 102
North on Rt 102 to Rt 12 (one of the best riding roads in the state)
West on Rt 12 to Rt 116
North on Rt 116 to Rt 14 and Suzie Q's
Oggle and drool over the assortment of iron; partake of creamness of ice (the strawberry shortake is fantabulous); ridicule the Harley thugs.
** IF TIME PERMITS:
Continue north on Rt 116 to Rt 6
West on Rt 6 to Elmdale Rd
North on Elmdale Rd to Snake Hill Rd
West on Snake Hill to Rt 102
North on Rt 102 to Rt 44 (Chepachet)
East on Rt 44 to A&W Root Beer stand - yes, it's another car show!
Slog root beer, oggle car hops.
Continue West on Rt 44 to Rt 295 (Smithfield)
South on Rt 295 to wherever you need to turn off.
** IF TIME DOES NOT PERMIT, skip A&W
from Suzie Q's, go east on Rt 14 to Rt 295 (Johnston)
South on Rt 295 to wherever you need to turn off.
I'm guessing that the riding time for the long route should be around 1 1/2 to 2 hours from Denny's to Rt 295, not including time for oggling, slurping and ridiculing at Suzie Q's.
Plenty more good roads up that end of the state as well, so I hope this won't be the last time we go up that way.
