I don't know about other VTXers in the Catskills, but there are a few of us on Long Island. Maybe some of us could plan a ride up to your area.

Another VTX in the Catskills. Great! I'm down around Monticello and plan on riding as much as possible through the winter (but not today). Working on outfitting for extreme weather, mostly for hands and face. Yak, stay in touch. Any GOOD Honda dealers up here? Hilf

I was just at the Pine View bakery the other day and went to Sheldon Hill forestry for a new chainsaw and other equiptment.
Looks like my riding season is finally over. I have 4 inches of that white crap on the road and my driveway. I'm already tired of it. Looking forward to spring.
StaySafe.

Hilf,

I use Matt's Honda in Coxsackie. They treat you like they would like for you to come back. Unlike Rusty Palmers!

Hi Bulldog and all, Thanks for the tip. I bought mine in Dothan, Alabama at Dothan Powersports this past Aug. Best experience yet with a MC dealer. I'll look up Matt's Honda. Well, It feels like a deep freeze today, what a joy. We moved from FL to experience the beauty of the mountains.
I'm working on outfitting for (very) cold weather riding. Waiting on electric gloves (Widder) to arrive as well as finish hooking up the electrical stuff. I'm using the european connectors as they seem more weather resistant. Hopefully, I'll get this done tomorrow and will try out the system right away. I'm a stone's throw from downtown Hurleyville. I haven't had a chance to venture further north and plan to do so as the weather allows. I'll be trying to ride as much as possible throught the winter to stay in riding shape. Why? I'm preparing for an extended tour of north america next june/july. The X will be my tourer. I also have a '83 Goldwing, giving it a well deserved rest for now. I'm looking forward to a group ride. Keep in touch.[/list]

HAHA. Then you must be near that big redish barn that is on the right hand side when going towards Kingston. Back in 1973 I hit a dog there on a brand new CB750. Ended up wiping out the left side of the bike and rolling down the road on my sides in the westbound lane with cars coming at me. Needless to say, I was very lucky that day. I know that section of road intimately. LOL

I live over in Delaware county, 7 miles outside Margareteville. If you take 28 west you'll pass it. I'm actually in New Kingston. I just started working at Belleayre ski center again for the winter. I'm a ranger there. If your ever up that way. Look me up. I'm usually at the lower lodge.

Stay Safe,
Franz

Well, we have taken a few rides this year...(What were we thinking...) Keep us informed on any upcoming rides. Anyone have any ideas on a central meeting place? Kingston, Saugerties, Mohonk?

It,s easier to ask for forgivness than permission...

A tranversing of the Catskills sounds in order when it warms up. Leave Kingston, out 28a, to 28 in boiceville, out to 42, over the mountain to 23A?, down into palenville(through Hunter), up 32 to 23out of catskill to windham, over 296? to hunter, down 214 to chichester and phoenicia, back in to 28 into kingston. Should be good for a couple of hours. S
