Don't check the state boards much, been to Colorado on the bike, but I can see that some (the MS bunch) have been busy trying to get this thing off the ground. I like the idea of moving the get togher locations around. Makes it easier for everyone to attend. I'm thinking a weekly meeting is too much.

I think we need a person from the monthly "host" location to set-up a get together and ride. Whether it's a bar-b-que at their house, crawfish boil, a meeting at a bar/grille, whatever, and also plan a 100 mile ride or so in the process maybe to some sort of event. Pick a day, sat/sun on a specific weekend each month so everyone can make plans in advance. I think it's going to have to be the weekends for a couple of reasons. Some will have to ride a couple of hours to get there, kids and school, a saturday would give flexibility on time in case the shindig runs long. Try to plan in conjunction with local events, i.e Crusin the Coast, Gulf Shores Shrimp Festival, SteelPony, Maybe a USM ball game, etc.

What about it? Opinions.

Also, SmoothX, what about getting Lamont to set-up a Gulf Coast X Riders board. Make that the rallying point for all discussions until we can get a good group, then maybe a site of our own?

We do weekly so that everyone has a chance to attend. If we did it once a month the maybe not everyone could attend just that one day, for whatever reason. What do you say? But dont you think you should actually attend one of these things. LOL.

Like Smooth X said, the reason we meet once a week is because the majority of our chapter works swing shifts. We can't all make it on the same day of the week, so by having a meet once a week, we can all be able to attend at least one out of the four. Its not a mandatory thing either. We've called and canceled the meet because of rain, etc. SmoothX and BigX are our undeclared President and Vice President, and I think they are doing a great job at trying to accomodate everyone's wacky work schedules. To prove they are doing an excellent job, I believe we are the only chapter of "Gulf Coast X Riders" so far. Everybody else just wants to talk about it. To all the potential "Gulf Coast X Riders", here's the only 3 choices you have:
1) Be willing to ride the distance to make our meetings and rides
2) Form other chapters that suit your needs best
3) Do nothing and continue riding the way you always have
Anyone of those are fine, but JUST MAKE A DECISION
