What model do you have.

I took apart my stock pipes and cut them in two. Cut them completely out and tig back together. Sounded great and got better mileage.

Do a search for exhaust mods or go to http://www.rwmillerandsons.com/Riley/RileysVTXhome.htm and look at his exhaust mod. It's pretty easy on the retro models, but I'm not sure about the C or N models.

Hey easyrider,
I've drilled my exhaust using the Clayton Root method ( I drilled 5 holes instead of 6)and haven't noticed any increase any improvement in either the performance or gas milage. I do like the sound of the drilled exhaust over the stocker's. I did however get about a 3-5 MPG increase in my gas milage when I switched over to synthetic oil in the engine and final drive. I live in Jackson, and if you would like to hear the drilled exhaust in person drop me an e-mail at : truck5c@peoplepc.com
Are you riding in the benefit ride for officer Andy Bailey this Saturday (7/24/04) ? Pre-registration is 5-8:00 pm Friday at Double Tree Hotel, or register Saturday at Pringles Park 8-11:00 am. Ride starts at 11:00 or 12:00. Not a poker run, no bar stops, just a nice ride and good fellowship. Hope to see you there.

Just did mine last evening.
A short 30 mile ride, and it sounds so much better.
More rapping after backing off. (I like)

I only made the moon shape cut.
Also I did NOT cut the tip off.
I made a gutar pick sized triangle opening at the inner top of the flare. (retro)
Still looks totaly stock as the triangle cannot be seen.
