Hello all,

It has been a while since I posted here. Much has happened. I had a severe accident on Sept. 27th, 2008 between Evanston and Woodruff. My wife and I were on a charity ride when we went up a rise into a left hand turn. I was the fourth bike in position and riding outside when we hit some gravel. I don't remember anything at all about the accident, but they tell me we went off the road at about 65. My wife had my helmet on and I was helmetless. She ended up with a scrape on her left arm and that was all. I am very grateful for that. I don't think I could live with myself if she had been hurt further. I wasn't so lucky. I ended up being flown by lifeflight and at McKay Dee ICU on a ventilator for three days. I had over 250 stitches and over 40 staples all over my face and head. I had over 150 stitches in my mouth as well. So far my recovery has been what everybody calls "miraculous". I am doing very well. I am fortunate to be working from home for the last week and a half. Previous to that for the first three weeks I was not working and did not have the vacation or sick pay built up to pay me. Sucks. Let that be an example to have all your ducks in a row before something happens that you end up injured or sick and not getting paid.

Amazingly enough, my bike, though totalled cosmetically, is fine mechanically. Engines starts right up and the frame is perfect. I am going to have repaired or replace all that was damaged in the accident with includes the following:
Fuel Tank
Exhaust
Rear Shocks
Front Fender
Rear Fender
Drag Bars
Passenger Backrest

After the insurance payments, I am walking with about $500 so I am looking to fix my baby up on a budget and over time. If any of you are aware of anybody in the Ogden/SLC area who does fender work instead of replacing the fenders, as they are really pricey, I would be very interested. The tank I believe is beyond repair and needs to be replaced as well as the exhaust, bars and backrest. Any other leads or help in getting those items on the list would also be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading this too long post.

Hope to hear from any of you soon...

Jeff

Glad you are going to make it, glad you wife is OK.

Like new fenders go for less than 100 on ebay all the time. Mine had signals, license plate, inner bracket, and taillight, all complete. I see tanks there too, even N fenders pretty cheap, 200 or so.

You can find them in the classifieds here too for similar.
