Hi,
Posted this under another thread, but thought it should have it's own:

I'm one of the road captains for the Central NY Star Society, and a X owner.

We are a rather large group, it was started 5 years back as a Yamaha group. We have several chapters, Finger lakes, Mohawk Valley, Rochester, and Oswego. Not sure of the total count, but somewhere in the 300-400 range. The CNY is the largest group and typical Wed night turn outs are 50-100 bikes.

We have a really wide range of bikes, everything from Henderson’s to Harley’s along with many Yamaha’s and Honda’s - a mutt crowd of everything, and everyone is welcome. We have several X riders in our group too. Most don't visit the VTXOA, but a buddy of mine BOB does.

Every wed. at 7pm we meet @ Hoffman's in Fairmount Fair for our weekly ride and almost always have a ride or two going on the week-ends.

If you close, stop by

Kevin

Anyone interested the 2005 Season is just starting:

I'll be riding with the Star Society again this year but also starting to ride with: SaltCity Riders:

Wed night rides start:
StarSociety May 4, 2005 @ Hoffman's in Fairmount Fair 6:30 pm
SaltCity Starts May 11, 2005 @ Doug's Fish Fry R31 # R57 6pm

Both great clubs, each one meets on Wed night so it's always a difficult choice who to ride with. Each club almost always have a week-end ride planned too.

Come on out if you in the area and interested.

Hey hackenfort! I'm a Syracuse Star Society VTX rider member also.

Why don't you post all of the details regarding the Tuesday, May 3rd trip to Binghamton for the purpose of escorting the minature Wall from Binghamton back to the NYS Fairgrounds here in Syracuse.

Include where we will meet in Cortland, the time, where and what time we will stage in Binghamton and etc.

Post the event for all of New York. There are a lot of New York X riders that use this forum. I'm certain there are a lot that would like to make the trip.

I do not have all the information, but here is what I have found:

This link is to the forum, looks to be the best information for the Syracuse Star Society group. I will not be riding on this one due to work, but looking forward to many other great rides.

Sorry the Delphi link does not work well - the crapy Delphi forms don't point directly to the thread. But use the advance search feature on wall escort - you will see the info.

***Tuesday May 3rd Escorting the Vietnam Wall to the NYS Fairgrounds***
There will be two starting points for the CNY Chapter. The first in North Syracuse at the McDonalds on Rt 11 across from the P&C (Airport Plaza) will be lead by Ken Wickert and the second at the Wegmans plaza in Fayetteville on Rt 5 which will be lead by Chuck Snyder. Both location will leave promptly at 7:30am. We will join groups on Rt 81 VIA communications over CB Radio. We will be stopping at CNY Powersports in Cortland around 8:15am and will be leaving promptly at 9:00am for our ride into Binghamton. This leave time will allow us to all fuel our bikes before we enter 81. CNY Powersports has graciously offered to supply Coffee and Doughnuts. We need to be at the Binghamton Municipal Police Building to stage by 11:00am and draw for our starting place in line .

The truck carrying the wall isn't expected to leave the Binghamton area until 1:00pm. Estimates are there will be between 800 and 1,500 bikes to escort the wall. While there are a few restaurants in the area I wouldn't expect them to be able to handle the crowd. I suggest each person pack a lunch and some drinks. A blanket to sit on wouldn't be a bad idea either. Dress in layers in case it gets warm and you need to shed some clothes. The extended weather outlook shows a dry day with a high of 59 which of course could change at any minute. I would expect there will be lots of television coverage, it would be nice if we all wore some Star Society items.

The return trip to Syracuse does not have any planned stops, just so you know this. Dinosaur BBQ will have food offered for sale at the Fairgrounds when we arrive. I'm told that each person attending the ride will receive a "ride pin" T-Shirts will be available at a cost (we don't have the cost as this time!).

Just spoke with my buddy who led the CNY Star Chaper on this ride yesterday.

The offical count isn't in, but Tompkin's County Sheriff department estimated 2500~3000 motorcycles on this ride. Stretched out aprox 10 miles, with police escort.

I'm not too crazy about riding in large groups, but this had to be fun to watch....
