:? I thought this was to be a "loosely based" group, with no set guidelines regarding the posting of rides. This "riders group" is just starting out and bylaws have yet to be written; however, we did agree that the postings of rides and events that individuals are going to participate in do not have to be coordinated with the "riders group" in order for them to be posted. These ride postings are for information only; if you want to show up, fine. I disagree with some of the postings out there that specify getting approval for the ride.
Being that this group was supposed to be a loosely based group; that there are no set bylaws and that we are just staring out, I believe what happened over the Greylock ride is just wrong. Are we trying to run people away from joining the group or trying to draw more riders in? I feel that these actions should be looked at and thought about hard. This is a public forum and we have no control over the postings and should not control the postings.
Ideally, the formal "group" rides would be planned at the meetings with as many members present as possible. Sanctioned group rides would be posted on the CT VTX website. Granted, the Greylock ride was discussed at the Hopyard meeting, but it had been posted for quite a while and I am wondering why, less than 2 weeks before the ride, a brouhaha erupted and jdubes ride was seemingly "hijacked" by the riders group. This is starting to sound more like a Harley Owners' Group and not the original intent of a loosely based VTX riders group.
These are just my thoughts and my feelings. I'd like to hear other's thoughts on this as well.
