Warning!! Potential for dangerous oil leak!!

If you work on your airbox or even in that area...please be sure that you have not pinched the crankcase breather tube. This will cause you to build up pressure un the crankcase and your shift seal will blow. This will spill oil in line with your rear wheel...potentially causing you to loose traction and crash.

The crankcase breather is the smaller of the two hoses connected to the back of the stock airbox. It can be easily seen from the left side of the bike, between the jugs. Check to see that it runs smoothly to the back of the airbox.
Alternately, you may remove the dipstick and blow into the breather tube with a hose or straw. Feel for a rush of air at the dipstick and you'll know the tube is not pinched. The breather tube is attached to nipple "A" in the stock airbox.

Here is a fix posted by Thin Man. You still want to be sure the hose is not kinked behind the stint:

My bike had been leaving a couple of drops of oil on the garage floor after trips out of town. You got me thinking with that total oil loss at highway speed. Checked it out today and mine was also kinked.

The culprit was a hose clamp. It's my favorite type of clamp, but this time the excess caused a problem. The excess was hooking into the hose when the air cleaner housing was pushed back into place. This put a fold in the hose.

I bent the excess clamp end out of the way and pushed a 2 inch long brass tubing stint up the kinked hose to keep it open.

I didn't see a step by step for the 1300 fuel tank

This is for the VTX 1300 motorcycle only

Some people want to remove there fuel tank on the VTX 1300 so you can do maintenance.
here is a step by step and photos that can help you , I hope.

remove seat ( there are different seats , most have 3 bolts , one 10mm nut in the back-center ,
and two 6mm hex drive bolts , one on ether side rear of drivers seat.

turn off the fuel supply valve (A)
remove vent line (B) ( It's actually a vacuum line going to the fuel pump on the back of the shutoff valve )
disconnect fuel supply line (C) some fuel will drip out.

remove bolt rear of tank and remove the sleeve inside the rubber under the tank,

disconnect vent line on aft right side under the tank

http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/gg105/horseman8m/tankvent-01B.jpg

carefully disconnect the two wires inside the rubber boot on the front right side under the tank.

http://i246.photobucket.com/albums/gg105/horseman8m/tankwires-01.jpg

place a towel over the bench or shelf that you are going to store your tank wile you are working on your bike.
slowly lift up on the rear of the tank about 2-3inches and carefully pull back to clear the front tabs, then lift off
the bike and set on the towel. check the screws on the back of the supply shutoff valve to make sure they are tight.

If you wish to drain the tank before you remove it then , shut the supply valve off (A) and disconnect line (C) and put a three foot long by 3/8" fuel line on spout (C) and the other end in an empty 5 gal gas can then turn on the valve (A), when empty shut off the valve and remove fuel line from valve and start at the top of the page to remove the tank.

to install , in reverse order.

good luck, be safe
