Just look at the other 2 threads on it. That IS a real pic of an R&D VTX 1800 that was toyed with back in 2003. The belt drive was real and the rad is under the seat, the silver pods under the left leg are air scoops bringing air to the rad.

So, it IS a real Honda VTX but it is NOT the Fury

Do ya think that one would have sold?? Looks pretty decent!

Sure it would have sold, but I believe Honda thinks that anything less than shaft drive would be a step back in technology and bring more wear and tear into the model line.

Ya figure that's along the same lines of continuing the use of a heavy, steel swingarm & double-tubed frame? Anything less in weight would be a step back? You know I'm joshin' ya...

Well, from the problems they had with the Wings aluminum frame cracking and all, maybe ;)

That doesn't look to be the same bike as in the previous "fuzzy pics", the seat looks different for one.

Because....it's NOT the same bike. Not even close, the above pic is of an old 1800 VTX R&D bike that never made it past this pic. The Fury pics(the fuzzy pics Hal posted ) are of a completely different bike

I talked with my Honda dealer today and he is really excited about the new bike. He is a Honda/Yamaha dealer and sells a lot of medium size bikes so this having a 1300 engine and reasonable price tag is good news to him.

Is is just me? WTF is the fascination with belt/chain drives? Maybe there's some hidden advantage that I was unaware of? :dontknow:

cuase of flexability..with the belt drive ,theres little to no jerking between shifting...and , its cheaper for the manufacturer8)

Just something else to keep adjusted and listen too. You get the best of both worlds, something to do when not riding and something to listen to while you ride.
I like the shaft, for a change.....:D

Less power loss with a belt or chain drive over shaft drive

I have had both and have been happy with each of them. I had a friend with me at Bike Blues and BBQ and his shaft broke. Not only was is dangerous he had to trailer his bike home. There was no quick fix. With a belt there is a quick fix.

Last time I rode a belt drive, it broke:-x (wasnt beating on it) However, the shaft drive on an 1800 is a little harsh and takes some technique to ride smoothly. My brother's Raider has very smooth/buttery shifting. I enjoyed the ride better than my 1800C.

Consider me "schooled". ;) I still have to think that I'd prefer the no maintenance shaft drive. Of course, as Crew says...

The newer belts such as the one Victory is using in the Vision are made of Kevlar and Carbon Fiber. Way better that what the inustry standards are right now. They are saying 100K change intervals. That's less maintenance than any shaft!;)

I also know that belts can and do work awesome. Just look at all of the belts that are driving these massive blowers out on the drag strips with multiple thousands of H.P. They can handle much more that the Shaft can! It is also direct drive and no power loss being robbed by a shaft config.

Chains to me just suck! They stretch too much and can get dangerous when they snap or shotgun! Also messy with lubes or sticky grease. Too much maintenance too!

It's a smoother, more powerfull, not to forget to mention easier to maintain, and cleaner alternative to the ancient Shaft Drive Honda has come to love so much!

Perfect reason to change it!
