Buy a Fury or a used 1300 and customize it?

I vote the later. I purchased a used 2007 1300 w/ 778 miles on it for $7k and so far have added:

RC Component Wheels (Front & Rear)
RC Component Front disk rotor
Sumo Tubular Swingarm
240-Tire
Phat Digger Rear Fender
Progressive Shocks
Kuryakyn Turnsignals

Future Upgrades:
Raked Trees
Drag Bars

Total cost so far?
Bike ($7k) + Upgrades ($4k) + Future Upgrades ($1k) = $12k

Which I would bet my life is cheaper then the Fury is going to be.

Depends if you want a softail - FI - ABS or not I guess. Can't cheaply add that to a VTX 1300

A softail setup wouldn't be that much $1k-$1,500. The hardest part would be finding a good shop to do it.

If you want FI just start with a 1800 which are easier to find used (*at least in my area).

ABS, I agree. But I also think it's completely useless on a Chopper.
