Looking to put a system on my bike this winter and was wondering what people are putting on their bikes. I am looking for great sound with enough power to be heard over my big shots. I do have a windshield.
Help if you can.

I installed the Kuryakyn Sound of Chrome power amplified speakers on my 1800 last year. I absolutely love them. I have cobra long shots that are almost annoyingly loud, notice I said almost. Anyway I have long shots and a windshield and cruising down the highway at 85 I can still hear the music, in town you need to turn them way down. You can hook anything up to them. I started using my i pod, but decided to try a satellite radio, went to Walmart bought the cheap Sirius unit, 28 bucks, wired it up and have music or news anywhere. I love the system, so far the Kuryakyn product has been great. The only problem I have had is with the low priced Sirius unit. The 28 dollar setup is obviously made for using in a car, mount works great on top of the brake reservoir, but the unit isn't water proof, so I have to use a little plastic bag on it in the rain and it doesn't handle the vibration. I am on my second satellite radio unit. When I can save enough pennies I will probably go with a gps satellite radio unit. Only change that I would like to see on the speakers is a remote mount volume control. One of the speakers has the volume control knob mounted on the side and it is easy to grasp, but a push button control mounted right by the grip would be awesome. Anyway after using the units for about 6 months I would currently recommend them to anyone looking for a good quality sound system.

Purchased 2X250 watt amp on ebay for $30 and purchased JVSK-70C non amplified speakers. added a booster for low output audio devises from radio shack. Sounds can be heard at 70+ MPH with no windshield, with windshield sounds at freeway speeds are very clear.

+1 Great system for the money. 100watt amp is plenty loud enough with my MP3 player. Easy to install. Amp is much smaller than looks in picture, easily fits under seat or under side cover.

I installed the "Shark" stereo system. Works great even at speeds 80+. Best bang for the buck.

Here's another I'm peering at. Not to interested in the speakers, but the main unit. I can mount it in my fiberglass housing. Just a little leary about the output power tho http://cgi.ebay.com/Motorcycle-FM-Radio-Speaker-Stereo-Amplified-Waterproof_W0QQitemZ250350065885QQcmdZViewItemQQpt ZScooters?hash=item250350065885&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A543%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C2 40%3A1318%7C301%3A0%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A50

Been there tomkat, had a few diff systems on my bikes. the one in my posted picture earlier in this discussion cost me $100, made of fiberglass, hand made myself. Any info that can be given to our riders is get the highest "RMS" rated speakers. I used legacy's 4 inch. My first handmade, 2005, is in the picture below.

Here's mine. It wasn't hard to mount at all. I have mine going through a relay so when the key is off, the stereo is too. Don't want to run the battery down.

I installed a pair of Unique Sound Classic speakers about two weeks ago. I have ran the bike up to about 80 mph, and you can hear them well as long as you crank it up. I am very satisfied with the performance of the system. The amp is very clean; no staticbut they did take me for $235

These are ok. I may try something a little more expensive later, but for now, they'll do. I don't like having to mess with the remote.

A question for those of you who have the shark system. It says it comes with a radio but I have not seen it on the web site does anyone have a picture of it that you can post and let me know your thoughts on it. I'm thinking of getting one.

The Shark system doesn't come with a radio. I believe it is just an amp for Ipod's and stuff.

Shark does have one with a built in radio. The threads on here say that you have to reset it if the power to the amp is cut off. I think it is $119.00 on their site.

VTX Candy Red,

Can you post some pics of your system, and give a little more detail about how you like it? I want to send you a PM, but the board won't let me.

It sounds very good trsveling about 80mph. It is well worth the money. It looks better than the round speakers. The faster you go the louded it gets.
