If the Fury catches on and sells well, they won't be anything special as there'll be too many on the road. Success could well be its undoing.

HD makes a point of this with special models they release - that there won't be so many everybody has one. You feel not only special for riding a HD, but unique in that you won't see one in every group ride.

Seems that not having the same bike as everybody else is important to the buying segment that is into custom-like bikes.

If, otoh, the Fury remains exclusive and sells little, it screws the dealerships except to get customers in to look at it and maybe sell them something else.

I guess thats going to be the big question. Is it going to be a regular production run bike or is it going to be a limited production thing like the rune?

Yeah, but there are so %#$% many different special edition HDs, plus all their optional extra pieces-parts, you're not likely to ever see two alike in the same place. What Honda should have done was introduce an upgraded VTX1300 line with EFI, and then offer this Fury thing as a special edition VTX.

Or something. :?

How true.

Conversely, it seems that having the SAME bike as everyone else appeals to a large segment of cruiser buyers.

go figure.
