During the cold weather last week my daughter's car took a dump. Alternator, water pump, ball joints, floorboards almost rusted through. Guess it's time to get rid of the 11 year old Ford Escort. In the 8 years she's had it we've only had to spend $800 on it, not bad for 114,000 miles. Looked at used cars on-line, most of the affordable ones are former rental cars.

I decided to buy out the loan on the SO's car, a 2006 Kia Sportage with less than 12,000 miles. Got the bank to write off almost $6000 but had to dig deep to find the fundage. Now my daughter is buying my '01 Elantra with 61,000 miles. Found 2 similar cars for sale, both with 100,00+ miles for $4000. I'm selling mine for less because it has a bit of hit and run damage on the back door and quarter panel. Her boyfriend doesn't know how to drive a stick so it will be all hers.

As soon as I get the lien release from the bank I get to go to the DMV, there goes half a day of waiting around. Never thought I'd be driving a mini-SUV but now I can go to Sam and Dru's and steal some firewood!

Do it on line. I just got new sticker for Di's car, $1. extra.

Thanks Joe but we have to transfer titles, swap plates, and maybe pay some sales tax. I don't think they'll let us do all that on line.
