Hello fellow New Yorkers :) ,

I am picking up a VTX 1300R in the next few weeks and I want to convert to a 240 tire and swingarm (also a new paint job.) I also want a frenched (flush) license plate and LED brake/turning lights. Has anyone had any experience with Cycledelics (in Suffolk) or recommend another shop that does custom work or painting? I visited them and they seem very professional and showed me their shop and samples of their work, I was impressed :D . Any help would be grealy appreciated. I'm looking for places in Queens, Nassau or Western Suffolk Counties.

Welcome. I haven't dealt with Cycledelics, but my 1300C and I currently reside in Massapequa. I look forward to getting a first-hand look at whatever customizing you choose to have done.
From which shop are you purchasing? (Freeport, Champion, L.I. Cycle and Marine?)

Cycledelics is a great place, you also have Underground Cycles in Deer Park, and as far as paint goes you have Splatterhouse Grafix in Lindenhurst

I'll either buy it from Long Island City Honda or LI Cycle and Marine, they've given me the best prices so far. In three weeks I'll be ready and go with the best price and availability (VTX1300 '05R (cast wheel)). As soon as I finish my rear wheel mod I'll drop you a line and you welcome to come and see it :D .

Go see brian in riverhead!! I know it's a ride but sure it will be worth it. Is long island cycle the dealer in oakdale area of sunrise. if it is check the bottom line. I'm in the local snowmobile club and anyone who has dealt with them refuse's to go back. Misleading price's and bad attitude

Long Island cycle and Marine is on Sunrise in Bay Shore, they also own North Shore Cycle and Marine on Jericho Turnpike in Commack. I have no dealings with L.I. Cycle, but had a real bad experience with North Shore. I was looking at a 2002 Drifter that they had on the floor and the guy kept telling me it was a 2003. The vin stated 2002 and it was the 02 color, when I asked to see the bill of origin the guy basically told me to get the f@#k out of his store. I wouldn't buy a valve stem from that place.

For what it's worth, I like the crew at Champion Honda (Old Country Road, just east of the Wantagh Pkwy).

I got a sleezy feel when I went to LI Cycle so your comments don't surprise me. I lived in Brooklyn for 10 years so I have a good sixth sense about such things  . I've heard mixed reviews about Champion and I'm pretty much set on buying from Long Island City Honda in Queens (I've only heard good reports about the latter.)

I'm a new rider and have been taking individual lessons with Trama's (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.) I'll have it delivered because I know
I don't have the experience to bring it home (BQE, Grand Central and Southern State  .) I'm doing my MSF Course in two weeks and I'll surely have my bike before my license but I'm like a kid in a candy store and can't wait anymore and I'll be happy just chroming before licensing and winter mods. Thanks to all you guys on the board for all your help, I've been reading for weeks and feel alot more comfortable with my choice of bike and dealing with the purchase and with my very own motorcycle. (Never allowed to TOUCH Dad's as a kid  .)

P.S.: Before the onslaught begins, I already know the controversy of starting on such a large bike but I'm giving a shot, I'm a pretty big person and I'm starting off slow and local. (1800 is above my limit RadarTech and it didn't feel well as balanced.)

Every body has a different opinion as to what you should start with...you start small 6 months later you want something bigger and you get raped on a trade in. If you're gonna do it go all the was. As far as the 1800 lots of people have said the same thing to top heavy and kinda funky feeling, at least thats what I thought. I bought my 1300C from Champion in Hicksville, and outside of thinkink their service dept is ass backwards they did right by me.

I hear you. Started of with a Honda Shadow 750. One year later went to the Honda Ace Tourer 1100. Once year later went to HD Road King 1450. Now I'm on the 1800.
