I posted a few weeks ago on a thread that I lost my job I had for the last nine years as a sales representative and product specialist for Lovejoy, Inc as part of a cost cutting move on their part.
The majority of my working career has been in sales of some form selling products such as Ingersoll-Rand compressors, hydraulic components, industrial and aviation fuels filtration and over 20 years in the industrial power transmission industry selling gears, gear boxes, and couplings. I have managed sales forces as well as worked with manufacturer's reps and distribution partners.
One of the best products I have sold is a product manufactured by Rosta in Switzerland (www.rosta.ch (http://www.rosta.ch)). They design and manufacture items used for vibration isolation and suspension dampening technology. Lovejoy is their sales agent in the US and I was a product specialist for this line working with sales reps, distribution and manufacturer's reps in 13 northeastern states.
I took over a territory in 2000 that had been flat in sales for several years and with the exception of 2002 and 2003 (specifically after the 9-11 tragedy) when all business was in the dumps, and grew the territory each year. The Rosta product sales increased substantially in my "normal" territory and increased by over $200,000 in the 13 northeast states.
