Well took my mc safety class, rain and sick. Made a 96 on the written test but dropped the bike in the driving test so I FAILED (auto fail). Now I have to take the test over I have to tell you that I had never driven a bike prior to that so I am not feeling too bad about it. (Ok my pride is hurt)

I learned one very impt lesson DO NOT LOOK DOWN:oops::oops::oops:

I just wanted to give you all an update, you have all supported me and have given me great advice.

Good news is the instructor said he will let me practice with his bikes and will work with me before the next test. I was great at shifting just have to learn to keep my head in the direction I want to go.

This time I will pass and will not look down.......:doorag::doorag:

Seems the bikes tend to go where you look.
Good on the written; get healthy and go test again. Some parking lot practice around some little soccer cones might make you more comfortable too.

How did the rest of the class go? No problems with all of the maneuvers? Really too bad they make you take the test over again. I think you can go down twice during the class before they make you take the class over again.

It's the good and best news report. The good is that you passed the written and have taken a trial run at the riding portion. The best part is that you now get more practice and experience in riding on someone else's bike other than your own! When you pass all that stuff will be behind you and you will have more experience for when you buy your own bike. :firstplace:

Keep your chin up, keep practicing and thank you for the report.

Your main 1st step is out of the way. Congratulation on the written.
You'll be ok. Remember every beginning is hard.
Best luck to you.

Don't feel bad I droped my M50 during the test and went and borrowed a 250 Passed with flying colors the second time. I am thinking I may have looked down to. Mmmmm that would explain it. Any way you will get it next time.

Most people who fail the first time are on the larger bikes and havn't practiced enough before the test. You are not alone so try to get some practice in before the next go.

Sorry to hear you dropped the bike and didn't pass. That is really great the instructor is willing to work with you and help you.
Our middle daughter just took the writting test for her drivers license. She has the driving test next friday. Once she passes she will get her license in April. Then we will plan to have her take the msf class hopefully this summer.

If your not failing, your not trying! My Dad used to say "Fail all you like, just be sure your failing forward!" Good luck on the redo!

Renee,

Anytime you lay your bike down and all you have to wipe off is your pride, it is a good day. Good lesson about going where your eyes lead you.

Renee - you would be surprised at how many people drop their bikes in the "limited space" prtion of the class or test. I teach at the base and here they use their own bikes so it's not as nice when they look down for the lines and meet them up close. Good luck and keep practicing. Erik

Welcome to the club sassy. You are now a member of the "those that have club" because every biker that you meet will tell you that there are two types of biker's........those that have dropped it......and those that will.
Now that you got that out of the way just keep your nose pointed towards the horizon and many miles of happiness await.

ya you may have dropped the bike but you still obviously have your spirit!!
you learned a little more
and if the instructor is willing to help you the he/she knows it's a mishap that happens to many,
good luck with the re-do I think you will do fine

Don't feel bad, there are 2 types of bikers, those who have dropped their bike and those that will drop there bikes.

I've been riding for years and my bike decided to "take a nap" this day:

Keeping your head up is one of the hardest things to learn. It will come.

Yep, been back for a couple months now. I just been busy as all hell and the weather has been crap on this side of the water. But thanks for the nod Jon. It is nice to be back on land even if it is for only a lil bit.
