Plant City Bike Night 8/7

I'm heading to Plant City next Saturday night. I figured maybe we could meet at Hooters in Lakeland about 3:00 p.m., eat, then head to Plant City.

Tina, I will be heading out from S. Orlando what time are you leaving, and what route are you taking?

RedDawg, I haven't really decided on a route. In the past I have just hopped on I-4 and headed towards Lakeland and Plant City. I understand that construction around U.S. 27 is really bad right now so I am open to suggestions.

Let me know if you have any suggestions or would like to meet at a certain location. I am just a few miles north-east of downtown.

I can't go, so I don't know why I'm butting in, but I usually take back roads to wind up on Hwy. 50, then to 561 S, then to 33 S. Scenic route, relatively speaking, and avoids Disney congestion...

I'd like to ride up with you guys. I'm about 10 miles east of I-4 on 50. By the UCF area. I'm not too familiar with the area....if you guys come up with a good landmark to meet at I'll try to meet up with y'all

Performance Honda - Hwy 50, west of Winter Garden, looks like it may be the best place to hook up. My daughter has Orientation at Winter Park High on Saturday so I need to check the time on that. I'm thinking about 2:00 p.m. but I need to verify the time.

Let me know if anyone has any other recommendations on a place/time to meet.

Here are the somewhat finalized plans.

1st meeting spot: Fashion Square Mall - at the bank (maybe Bank of America???) across from Smokey Bones on SR 50. Meet at 12: 45 to head to Performance Honda.

Performance - S.R. 50 in Winter Garden. Meet at 1:30, depart 1:45.

Route : Hwy 50 to 561 to 33 - Thanks HairOnFire for the suggestion :)
Follow 33 to I-4, I-4 west to Hwy 98.

Estimating that we will arrive at Hooters about 3:00 p.m.

Gonna try to get away from here, sneaking if I have to, and go along. My brother-in-law is moving this weekend, so I may get roped into helping.... (oh my poor back, I think I need a ride to soothe out the knots :P )

IronMorph, we will probably be leaving Hooters about 4:30. I normally park in the parking lot next to Coyote's. I believe one of the Honda dealers from Tampa usually has a tent set-up somewhere btwn Coyote's and the bandstand. What say we meet there at 6:00?? Does that give you enough time.

I'm not sure how many will show with the weather looking iffy, but I will be there. Hope to see ya there.

well well well.

That ride had it all. We were dry and sweating, then we were wet and freezing. I hope everyone made it home okay.

You would think that weather.com or some place would be able to tell you that it'd be raining all day in every city in florida but instead you get 30% chance of rain in Orlando, Lakeland and Plant City.

It was nice meeting some of you and putting a face to a screen name.

Time to go buy some rain gear I guess.

After the last few rides I've done I've decided to change my handle. From now on I'm RainDancer. Seems that every ride I've done in the last couple of months I've gotten rained on. I'm not talking just a little rain, I'm talking gully washers (that's lots of rain for those unedumacated folks).

It was nice meeting a couple of new riders and nice seeing some of the same folks again. Hopefully next time it won't rain on us.

will ya stop dancing already? I got so da-- wet last night on my way I turned around and got just as wet coming back to st pete. I tried to get out there today, and right now, it's pouring. Can't you be the anti rain dancer?

Apparently not, at least not recently. :cry: Every time I try to be the anti rain dancer it seems to rain even harder. Yesterday is a perfect example. :D
