Hey all,
Unfortunately, it's for work, but I'm riding from Shreveport, LA to Vegas at the end of this month with a couple coworkers. I'm there for a couple weeks though, so should, get some time to have at least a little fun, I hope the tables are nice to me. Anyway, do to the time constraints, we have to stick to the interstate most of the way, and not a lot of time for side trips, but any recommendations on things to see or do along I-40 between Amarillo and Nevada? Right now we are planning to stop in Childress, TX and Gallup, NM for overnights since those work out for the mileage each day. Any tips ya'll have are appreciated. Thanks,

Bus

Check out the thread just below this one (http://www.vtxoa.com/forums/showthread.php?t=223883) "Headed west in mid-July" for some suggestions I made. If there's any way you can take US 66 for about 75 miles instead of the Superslab, do it. There's very little traffic, the road surface is good, the speed limits widely ignored, and you may get a chance to see the real Radiator Springs.

My buddy and I rode to Vegas from Houston 2 weeks ago. We took I-10 thru West Texas then headed up thru Phoenix to Vegas. We came back thru Flagstaff and Albuquerque the down thru Roswell and then back into Texas. Without a doubt the most beautiful ride was between Wickenburg Az up to Hoover Dam. Take 60 out of Phoenix and then 93 out of Wickenburg, when you leave Wickenburg sit back and relax for 85 miles of the most beautiful road over around and thru the mountians that I have ever seen. We rode thru the cold front and sometimes when it was 34 degrees and others when it was raining but this 85 miles made it all worth it. We got off of the bikes at a fuel stop after the 85 miles and we were both speechless. Good luck and enjoy the ride!!!!
