Just wanted to post this about Federal jobs. Any site that isn't http://www.usajobs.com/ that advertises any Federal position is only going to take you to http://www.usajobs.com/. This is the "official" site for Federal listings...I know if someone needs work and doesn't want to get a run around it's better to go directly to the source. If I'm wrong i'm sure someone will correct me but with the exception of a few, usajobs is the only way to apply for Federal jobs. Those few exceptions typically are still listed in usajobs you will just be forwarded to the necessary site. These positions seems to be more where you start needing some sort of classified status.

There are many opening here in the Metro D.C. area, 2,571 as of the date of this post, in all kinds of fields, and these are open to the public meaning basically you are not now or have ever been a federal employee or military in the past. If you have been Federal or Military before there are over 5,000.

Tip:

Most positions I have ever applied for require an extensive set of qualifying questions (KSA's). In the answers it is important to have good key words related to the field, rule of thumb is usually these words can be pulled from the job description and the description of duties to be performed. This is due to the large number of applications, KSA's are basically scanned by HR for certain words which will qualify the applicant for the next round. For example I'm in IT so when I apply for job XYZ I see in the duty section that they specifically like Object Oriented programming experience...so in turn I MAKE SURE to work in that I have object oriented programming experience to grab attention to my application.

I'm not in HR or anything but if anyone is interested in applying I can try to answer any questions/concerns.

Hope this helps...8)
