Hey folks! Just popping in to see what kind of cycle luggage you all use/like/recommend. A buddy and I are going to ride out to Sturgis this year from Indiana and it will be my first 500+ mile trip. We are planning to camp along the way. (I am planning to strap my backpacking tent and sleeping bag outside of the saddlebags/luggage).

I have a 1300. The bike is currently equipped with U.S. Saddlebags, a cobra luggage rack and cobro short sissy bar.

Also, what items would you all recommend bringing along for a long trip like this (we are planning to do the 1200 miles over 2-3 days) that is commonly over looked or you have learned from expirence that is helpful?

Thanks!

Inquiring minds would like to know what bag/duffel can hold tent, sleeping bag and sleeping pad (20" wide) that is waterproof and can hold up to the wind going 80 mph?

Recreational stores have waterproof bags/duffels but they are not made to withstand the 80 mph wind factor they tell me.

Leaving next month for a 45 day ride to see the two lane Americana.

I've got a fairly non-standard setup and use a Cyclepac sissy bar/luggage carrier. Attached to that I use one of two drybags depending on how much stuff I'm carrying. The one I use most of the time is a SeaLine from REI

The other is a no-name dry bag I picked up at a discount store somewhere. I think its about 20 Literes.
