Been thinking of what Rides/Rallies that I might be interested in attending this year and came up with one that caught my notice last year: The Hells Canyon Ralley? Is anyone planning on attending this Ralley this year?
Been thinking about doing a Loop across to Eastern Washington, down Eastern Oregon to Crater Lake down Crater lake Hwy etc and back to Washington. There is a ton of Camping and the sights are Great! Anyone interested in a Ride?
There has got to be something out there that is really worth doing that does not take a week to get to. :dontknow:

I did this ride solo last year shortly after getting the Raider as my annual "head-clearing exercise". If you're going to go as far south as Klamath Falls, it's a great sight during the day, but watch out for the midges after dusk. They coated my front end and windscreen solid. I hid behind the windscreen, but the helmet was covered solid. Better to end the day's highway riding before dusk and then just enjoy the local scenery.
Crater Lake was absolutely breathtaking and I'd love to do this ride with Karen and a small group. Hwy 97 through Washington is much prettier than Hwy 97 through Oregon. It's OK in Oregon, but got to be a little boring after a couple of hours. I didn't check to see if there were any nice parallel roads, but if there are, I'd seriously consider taking them just to break things up a bit.
Normally I would camp out and sleep in a sleeping bag and have a nice campfire. It's just part of my normal head-clearing. But on this ride I stayed in Klamath Falls and had a nice dinner & then rode down to the California state line. If you're going to do such a thing, I suggest that you fill your gas tank in Klamath Falls as I didn't and ended up coming back and filling up before heading west. There is an awesome highway that goes west from Klamath Falls. I was so impressed that it soon became my favorite west coast ride.
Here are a couple of shots from that ride.

You won't be disappointed. It was an awesome ride, with great people all along the way.

I've scooted Crater Lake a couple times as part of a scoot trip I make to Medford a few times a year.....I love that country, tho it gets too hot for me in the summer. Crater Lake is stunning. I would like to walk down and take that boat trip they have, but the walk back up might prove to be too much.

I will be there and camping at the High School. Didn't go last year but I did in 06 and 07. Lots of great roads to ride in that part of Oregon.

I plan on attending the Hells Canyon Rally this June. All of the local motels are full, but if you call the Baker City Chamber they can put you in contact with locals renting out their homes and cabins. We are traveling with a group of four couples, and plan on leaving Friday and riding straight through to our rental in North Powder. We will be heading home on Monday. Looks like a great place to ride and mix with other bikers. Really looking forward to it.

For those that may be interested I will be shortly posting a Crater Lake Loop Ride via Hells Canyon. For those people that can't get off work to make the Hells Canyon Rally this will be the Ride. We will cover most of the Sights and Roads of interest that the Ralley covers but without the crowds. Then head towards Pendleton Ore, Bend Ore, Craterlake and ??? The ride will likely be a week long jont covering 3-5 hundred miles per day. Anyone that is interested watch for the up comming Post. This ride will occur shortly after the Hell Canyon Ralley.
Cheers,
Rowland

No palace-wheels this trip! I will be going as a Bag Man! The wife tells me that this trip will be about Pictures and not flying low under the Radar. :yikes: Well atleast I won't have to buy a new Ultra Speed Rated Car Tire for this trip. Budley will be setting the Pace on this ride. I know he can't deny that he past me and left me in the Dust a few times comming back from Astoria. HUMM-maybe I will hang onto the Radar Detector a little longer. Will be testing out some of those new Mods that Matt did.
Humm. . .Rumor has it that Doc Boss has a? Radar Jammer hidden on his X? :dontknow:
