WE WILL HAVE A SHORT RIDE THE MORNING OF THE BENEFIT...
This is a very long story. I will try to make it short for now. My grandbaby Caiden Reich that is 5 months old was born with Hirschsprungs Disease. ( the Colon does not have all the nerves) He had a pull thru surgery for that. It went very well. The next day the nurse placed a Foley Catheter in wrong. He was put on a PCA pump (at 3 weeks old) on Morphine, the night before would not work on him because it was such a small dose. He coded 25 minutes after he was put on it. The surgeon that gave him Narcan during the code said he woke up screaming after that.
He was put on a ventilator and put in ICU. Then we find that he had a Fistula between his Urethra and Rectum due to the Catheter mistake. So now he has to have a Colostomy and a Supra Pubic Catheter so the hole can heal. The Urethra damage is a big problem. It is a major surgery to try and fix and a rare injury. If it can be fixed, there is a chance it will block again after the surgery. My Daughter and I have not been able to work again since this has happened. It takes a lot of work taking care of him.
He was in the Hospital 2 months and to watch him go thru all this and code and almost did not make it has been hard. They also let his temperature get to 91 and was unresponsive and tried to tell me it was ok. We had to take over and get help and get a warmer in the room and Kim and I had to show them how to operate it. It is very sad what goes on and everything that happened would not have happened if they had listened to us. Lots of details on that.
We have just found a Doctor in Orange California that is willing to take this on and thinks he has a pretty good chance at fixing his Urethra Injury.
We are asking for everyone to please pray for him.
We are also asking if anyone will help with donations, a benefit, a walk or anything else to help with this, please let us know. Anything will be greatly be appreciated.
Caiden had his Colostomy take down Wednesday the 25th, please continue to pray for him.
