I'm thinking of drilling out my pipes "Clayton Mod"
Living in Bristol, land of No Loud Pipes Police, I am wondering if this mod will get me pulled over. Now there are some loud bikes around but I don't want to stick out.
What made me think of doing this was when I passed a car and I couldn't hear my bike.
Thanks for you help

dude
i ride in bristol all the time
they are mostly targeting the guys that find it funny to blast thru town settin off car alarms
if you ride like a normal person you will be fine
i am runnin V&H big shots they are very loud
i road thru bristol today and had no trouble
passed several cops even
had a quik beer at topsider and headed home
i would go with the mod and dont sweat it
if you get a ticket ill let ya use my stock exhaust to fight it in court LMAO
Sean
P.S. we love your town

I drive pretty normal and my wife will tell me face it you're getting older lol... She followed me home from the dealer and she said I drive like an old lady
Yeah Bristol is a great town and there are always a ton of bikes around. I know I've heard loud pipes are trouble at times here, I understand it's the guys with no respect for the downtown area.
Ride safe

Hey Ed,
I took a ride in Newport today. came off 138 by the old Jai Lai. There is a sign at the bottom of the Exit saying welcome....Motorcycles with straight exhausts will be fined $400. Just wanted to give you a heads up. Keep some kind of baffle in there...just my $.02.

My town Bristol actually has radio commercials warning that you will be ticketed if you come into town with loud pipes, they also include radios in that message.
I can understand obnoxious pipes but to just pull over bikes for the heck of it and test them is far beyond what I think is fair treatment.

i have drilled pipes and believe me they are an improvement over stock but definately not loud. i'm getting a pair of cobra slashcut slip-ons which will be quite a bit louder but still not as loud as those running VH 2.5s or 3 inch. don't worry about it unless you're in the habit of gunning the throttle to impress someone.

Well the sign says no straight pipes:
I've never seen and exhaust pipe that is totally straight..they all have some kind of bend.
I remember when I was young and foolish I got pulled over for no baffle in my Honda Scrambler.
Cop stuck his night stick up there then peaked in..he then told me to rev it up while he was down there peaking in....hehehehehe...I melted his mustache hehehehehehe....sit in the back of the cruiser...send the wrecker...bike in the pound....was worth it though....guy never pulled me over again.
