I'm planning on buying the 1300 S. I wanna get your opinions as to which dealers you recommend and which ones you would avoid. I live in Nassau County, Long Island, and i'm willing to go to dealers in the NYC tri-state area. What do you guys think?

thanks in advance.

For the price's there going for in other parts of the county or on ebay, etc. I think I would buy cheap, even factoring in shipping cost here you could still probably save several thousand dollars! You don't really need the local dealer for anything. I bought mine at LI cycle and marine in Bayshore, they tried to add an extra $800 over the sticker price but after I screamed we split it. Still I don't think I would but there again

I agree that you got to shop around. From reading the other riders statements about buying brand new '03's for around $8000 it is worth renting a u-haul trailer with a drop tailgate and driving 3-6 hours and save $2000-$3000. Call all these dealers and get quotes over the phone lock them in and go get one, they are soooo much fun. Get the 1800 though.

VTXDDS --

I'm also on L.I. (Massapequa).
Regarding the dealers in this area:
I recommend Champion. I like Freeport a little less, and don't really care for L.I. Cycle and Marine (Bayshore).
Where on the Island are you from? Judging from your screen name, I gather you're a dentist?

As a member of the local snowmobile club and disscuss dealer's throughout long island do not go to long island cycle and marine in bayshore. do consider rvhd honda 727-0550. ask for scott the salesman or brian the owner.

Ok. Couple of things first....

you guys mention shopping around and trailering the bike home. You are still talking about a new bike correct? just from a dealership that a little further out right? - 2-3 thousand less?? hmmm.......

Also, I like Champion (Hicksville?) the guys there seemed really nice and professional.

what and where is RVHD honda? ---RadarTech

Yeah. I'm a dentist living in Manhasset.

Here's another one for you guys. I went out to riverhead this past weekend with a buddy of mine. We were riding all over, but I just didn't seem to enjoy the ride all that much. I got to thinking that if all LI riding was like what we did, i'd have a permanent flat spot on my tires. Where do you guys tend to ride? Anywhere in particular?

I'm really excited about getting the bike. Wifey says she'll let me get it but i have to buy the office first.... Hmm... priorities. It seems though that every time i go into a dealership, i get closer and closer to getting one. I really almost wanted to ask the guy to work the numbers for me this weekend. Too bad it's raining today. I was planning on prepping my bike to sell.

Hey VTXDDS,
I have to say that I bought my'03 VTX 1800 C leftover at East Coast Cycle Center in Bensalem, PA. I walked out the door paying only $7,402. They offered it on ebay for only $6,999. I called them up and they gave me that price + shipping fees to the dealer. I jumped in my truck and trailer and brought it home the following week.

The salesman I dealt with didn't seem to care too much about me, the customer. I must have been the 1000th person to come in from a couple of hours away just to take advantage of their prices. IT WAS WELL WORTH IT!!! I love my X! :D

I know one of the other members of this group called them up and they said the promo on that bike ended, but they are still listing them for $7,599. Don't quote me on that exact price, but it is well worth the trip. It only took me 2:15 to get there from Orange County, NY.

Good luck with your search. I hope I was of some help.

Dan

I can chime in here... I just bought an 04 1300C from New York Honda in Long Island City for $7480 plus tax and registration. No other fees applied. I am picking it up next week.

I went in with the intention of buying an 03 1800C for the exact same price... but I just didn't like how the 1800 felt... just too heavy for me.

I must have spent 3 hours sitting on the 1800, then sitting on the 1300, taking them outside, starting them up...etc.. etc. My final decision was a black 1300C...it just felt right. I kept second guessing myself... thinking that the price of the 1800C was so good... I should not pass it up.. but it came down to with what I was more comfortable on.

I can say that Jay at NY Honda treated me great. Very honest, straight shooter...would definetly recommend. Plus he's giving good discounts on clothing and other accessories.

I am going to trailer my bike home... I live about 1 3/4 hours upstate(I used to live in East Meadow)... so you can see I was willing to travel for the right dealer. Before you buy anything... give him a call.

Ok...... So I called LI cycles and Sunrise honda

LI cycles wanted 10,200 for an 03 1800R
Sunrise Honda wanted 9,700 for the same. Silly! Silly I tell you. Didn't get to call other places though. They were closed.

The search continues

I just purchased a 2003 leftover 1800 Retro from Champion Honda They were great! I got a really great price, and they really went out of their way for me. I retired recently from the NYPD Highway Patrol where I had worked for 17 years out of my 20. And after riding Harleys for that time I was amazed at how much nicer the VTX rides, and also saving 14,000 dollars over a Harley Road Kind was an added bonus!!!!
P.S. There are plenty of great places to ride on L.I. :D

On 8/31/04 I became the proud owner of a 2003 "leftover" 1800C aka "Black Beauty" I call it the "Godfather" because Pennsylvania's largest Honda Dealership, "Tom Clark" in Belle Vernon (just south of Pittsburgh) offered me a new '03 1800C for the price of a 2004 Spirit 1100. It was $7600, but with shipping (only came across Ohio border where they are made / Maryville) and dealer prep, it came to about $8400. I was happy with that!!!!! It "was an offer that I couldn't refuse"!

:D Steve, Glad to hear of your great deal and welcome to the world of VTX riding. Let's see you got this bike at the end of August and you are just sitting down to tell us now?!?!?!?! That sounds like what I did I couldn't get off my X. I have had it since June and put 12,000 miles on it. Now that it is cooling down with certain precipitation, I have put the X away in the back of the garage to make room for the truck. (I hate scrapping windows and cold mornings). I live in Vestal and their are a couple of us X owners around. Drop me a line and see if some day we can get together. I am planning on Marysville in July, can you make it? Tros
