OK, so the temp is actually in the low 60's at least and no rain is predicted before tomorrow night, SOOOOO...is anyone heading up to Doyle's for Bike Night tonight?

Yo Stevo, I will try to make it, but it might be a little hard for me these days. But I will let you know as the day goes on...

David....good to hear from you bro. How's the eye healing up? Hope all is well with your wife too and that the bedrest plan is working out for her and the baby. As of right now, I don't even know if I can get away to Doyle's tonight or not...waiting to hear back from the boss on that one. Who knows, she may have something of earth-shattering importance that I have to do, like rearrange my sock drawer or something...but, if she doesn't and if I can head up there, my plan is to leave Schaumburg around 6:30 PM - should get to Doyle's around 7:30 that way. I'll give you a call as soon as I know.

Well, my eye is healing up slowly. It still bothers me somewhat, but it's nothing like this past weekend. As for my wife, well, obviously she took the news pretty hard, but she is doing fine. She is bored and going nuts just laying around and not being able to do too much at all. But thanks for asking Steve. I also just found out that I might have to work a little late today, and I had planned to go to my mother-in-law's house (Where my wife is staying) and dropp off some things for her and then I was thinking about going up to Doyles, but it's looking pretty slim right now.....

We had a great ride up to the new and improved Doyle's last night..and a cold, cold ride home. Monty, Jeff, Patience and I rode up. It was great to see Mike (Acrotech) to get caught up and to meet The Mayor and Mongol from the Wisconsin group. Mike and Bluto are back to concentrating on the bike and auto customizing business after being carpenters and remodelers for the past several weeks but the results of their work at Doyle's are unbelievable...the place really looks great and the excellent food hasn't changed. Sorry we missed Jeanne who was tied up doing her political thing (let's see...trying to remember what she was elected to...something like "Countess of Richmond" or something like that). Just pulling your leg Jeanne and we are sorry we couldn't wait until your board meeting let out. Like I said, the temp dropped about 30 degrees by the time we headed home so it was a brisk ride back to say the least, but a great time for all.

I rode up Rt. 12 from Palatine last night and had dinner at Doyles. I did see some Honda's parked outside. The night was perfect.

The BAD NEWS, was I lost a saddle bag in Lake Zurich after hitting a huge pot hole, SO, if anyone happens to hear about a found saddle bag, contact me. I didn't know I lost it until this morning and then rode all the way back up to Doyles just to see if I could find it. NO LUCK!

I wish that's all that happened to me on my way home. I bent 2 rims, broke my headlight, bent one shock mount, and bent both rear shocks when I hit a pothole. Bent the rims a lot worse than I ever have. Back tire was instantly flat, front tire lost like half of it's air. Had to stop right then and trailer it back. Damn pothole wasn't big enough to see until you were right on it, and it was DEEP...just gobbled the whole tire up. IDOT will pay!

Monty, sorry to hear about your bike and rims but glad to hear you made it through unscathed!

I still have that set of 1800C rims I need to sell though........

As far as IDOT paying for damage caused by a pothole, forget about it. I hit a minor pothole on Route 59 a number of years ago on my '98 Goldwing and caused the side of the front rim to bulge, even with friends working for IDOT I couldn't get a dime from them as the damage was not caused by human error or negligence (potholes are considered an act of God).

If you have full coverage on your bike it should cover the damage for the full amount minus your deductible.

Monty,

I just read you post tonight...must've happened after Jeff and I split off from you and Patience at Rt. 59. Glad to hear you kept the bike right side up after hitting that pothole...rims can be replaced; body parts,,not so easy. Again, just glad you're OK.
