This may sound like a really dumb question, but I'll ask it any way.
Are there any critical areas to avoid hitting with direct spray when washing my bike? In the past, it's never been dirty/buggy enough to require using a hose to clean. I've always wiped it off with cleaner and polish. This time I need to get it good with the hose sprayer (not a pressure washer).
Any input is appreciated.
Thanks

I stay away from the dash and use a leaf blower to dry it really well.

stay away from wheel centers, and final drive, people say the bearings are sealed they arn't. The Id of sealed bearings have a really small air gap, water around them cause humidity grease and oil attract it. Just not good. dash area too. If some ones going to tell you its sealed ask them do dip theyres in water. And if you cant leave a hand on any parts wait. To hot to hold is 120 degrees.
The above are oppinions.
I spray mine with a hose about 5 times a year. It's the only way I can get to the dirt and sand from riding on gravel or sandy roads from rain. I dry it pretty good with towels but like Gen Xer said, the leaf blower works great.

Washed it last night. Good and clean now. The leaf blower worked great for drying it. Much better than trying to towel it off...
Thanks guys.
I took some pics of it last night and I'll post them when I get those 'developed'. My wife has the laptop at the hospital with her and the baby...

I wash mine with water every time it needs it. Even it is every weekend in the buggy months of the summer. I have been doing this for the 6 years I have owned it and have had no problems yet related.
I do not avoid riding in the rain and know that the pressure in my hose is less than driving 70 miles per hour in a down pour, at least it feals that way on my skin.
I just make sure to keep a good layer of wax and polish on the bike.
