I know.....this thread is worthless without pics! I was at Everett Power Sports today and I pulled the remaining bling off my old bike and said goodbye to it for the last time. It was kind of emotional like losing a good friend. Me and that bike did a lot of fun things together. I'm really gonn'a miss the Red Beast. It's sorta like having to put a dog down. Not a fun thing. Some people might think WTF it's just a machine, an inert object without a soul. I say it's more than that. It became a part of me and it's hard to let it go. Thank God I was able to walk away from my accident. I actually do have more injuries than I first thought but at least nothing is broken.

Last night I went to the Northend Meetup Group meeting and I felt very alone when everyone hopped on their bike and rode away. I knew right then and there that I needed to get a new ride and not wait until November or December for an insurance settlement. I know I will get enough to pay for my new steed but there is no way in hell I'm gonna wait 4 months to ride again, it just ain't gonna happen.

Today a guy bought a new Goldwing at Everett Power Sports. Because his wife didn't like his "X"! Now we can have some fun with that comment!
He traded in an 07 1800R Spec 3 that only had 4,100 miles on it.
It's mine now!!! It was only on the floor for 5 minutes. It looks a lot like a C model in many ways. It has a short tail like a C and the front fender is the same C model style, a little bit shorter than the standard R model. However it does have a fatter front tire like an R model. It has the the typical R model tank with the speedo in the dash on the tank but here is the kicker. It also has a digital tachometer in the dash right on top of the speedo read out. It is black in color and no tank flange or chrome tank badge. It does have a very subdued black VTX tank decal that you have to look hard at to see it. It also has floorboards that scrape a little sooner than my pegs did! Here's where it get's interesting and I can't figure this out. The R bars on my old C model have more pullback than the stock R bars on this bike. It almost feels like stock C bars. The guys at Everett Power Sports are gonna swap bars from my old bike for me as they didn't get damaged in the wreck. I'm also having them install a Honda Delux Backrest and Luggage Rack like my old bike had. I'll get some pics of the bike on Tuesday and force myself to learn how to post pics.:yikes:
The Stock Seat sucks. I'm gonna have to replace it with something. The stock passenger seat sucks even more than the stock passenger seat on my old 02 C model. Actually I didn't have a problem with the stock seat on my old bike but my wife hated the padded brick passenger seat because it really did suck. I'll admit to that! But the rider's seat on the new bike really sucks!!!! Oh well, I'll just throw more money at the problem! :yikes: Other than the seat issue it appears to be a great bike. I'm really looking forward to going to Izzy's! :-P

Now that is AWESOME!!!! Congrats on the new bike!! Sounds like you were at the right place at the right time. I have always liked Everett Power Sports, good people there. And since we are having one of the dryest summers in a few years, you don't want to miss the rest of summer riding season.
They have a nice looking orange shadow my daughter liked, and man if I had an extra 5k sitting around I would get it for her.
Now we need pictures.

Glad to hear it! Hope I can get back on the horse as quickly as you have when, or if, I go down. You're an inspiration.

Jeff,
It must be a digital spedo off the F model. I saw a new 08 C with the same thing.

Todd, tell me more about your F model. I'm thinking that perhaps Everett Power Sports are selling me a bike and they don't know for sure what it is that they have. They said it was an 07 R Spec 3 and that's OK except it has too many features that make it look like a C model. By that I mean the short tail, the short front fender and the C bars. Maybey this is in fact a C model and not an R model as they said it was. But the speedo and tach in the tank dash throw me a little. If it is a C model, what year did they start doing that?

It could be an F what kind of wheeles does it have? The F does not have a tank flange nor does it have a tank badge, it's a sticker with clear coat over it.

I think the first one I saw was an 07.

Like I said I saw a C with the F gages on it new at Hinshaw's. I think Honda started installing all there parts stock from F's on C models to get rid of inventory before announcing the discontinuation of the 1800 line.

That's my guess.

Congrats on the new sled!!!

Holy Chit! It's an F model!!!!! I looked up an 07 1800 F model on the web and it looks identical to the bike I'm getting. It's definately not a C model because the pipes are different. The C model has a 2 into 1 stock exhaust. This one has 2 swept back pipes just like the F so it is an F model. And it is a Spec 3. Maybe that is why the seat is different!

Well dam......Jeff on an F. Things will never be the same again.

One thing......floor Boards on an F...:yikes: They'll have to go, that's like installing a trailer hitch on a Shelby Mustang. That's just wrong.

I'm inclined to agree with you on the floorboard thing. I actually prefer pegs. I will at some point in time get some long Kuryakyn pegs to replace the boards. The boards scrape too easy. I found that out today when I took it for a test flight. The boards will go but all things in due time! Have a great vacation. See you at Izzy's.

Congrat's Jeff! The "F"Model has always caught my eyes! It's the VTX dragster/street model by honda... One easy way to make sure is to check the front and rear rims? They are the same dia. like 16" F&R... And the Star type alum. rims... There shoud be a tag/model # serial # on the bike too! Anyway, It will be a great new project and ride for you... Ed1947
