Thank you for your interest!

I would like to get $700.00 for the Proton 4

Thanks, Dennis

I 'm selling my 2003 1800 VTX and parting her out. I have a chromed Proton 4 for sale. There were only 100 of them produced. I bought mine for $600.00 and had it chromed for $200.00, so I have $800.00 into it. It is a real head turner and I'm always getting lots of comments on it. I will attach some photos so you can see, I will sell for the best offer and highest bidder. You can do a search to get all the information about this on the forum. If you have any questions or need more photos let me know?

Thanks, Dennis ;)

I am surprised you have not sold it yet????????
Usually these things sell REAL FAST!
I am running two P4's on an IDC intake. Best looking intake I have ever seen! The only thing that looks this good is Kevin Kuipers one off intake that he is selling.
No worries, someone will step up. These things are rare!

Just curious why people want so much for these?

Is it just because they didn't make many of them and no longer make em?

Exactly what kind of filter is in there? How does it flow compared to the other aftermarket intakes out there? Are there any appreciable performance improvements with these things?

I suppose...
and I also suppose it's all a matter of personal taste..

I was just curious.

Personally ,I like the look of this Proton better than that custom flame intake that Kevin was selling, but that thing apparently sold for a ridiculous amount of money too, so I guess there's a market out there for ugly intakes with little performance value :-P... just kidding...

Well I am the one who spent the ridiculous amount of money on the ugly intake. :D I got it because it is something that nobody else will have and I thought looked really cool so yes, to the one individuals point cool factor is worth something. Unfortunately does not work on an F model because it hits the tank so was also an expensive lesson. Personally, I will spend money to be different...as far as for performance, it is an S&S based intake and runners are pretty big bore and performance should be pretty good. (BTW, it's all in the name of fun so I don't take it personally and neither should you.)

I would do it but already spent a ridiculous amount of money on Kevin's so have to think about it...also thinking about how to make my current ugly intake work.

I have a P4. I've had SOOOO many people ask about it, say it's the baddest lookin' thing they've ever seen on a bike, inquire where they can get one.... I love mine.

Don't worry, you'd have a VERY hard time saying anything online that would even remotely hurt my feelings...

Search my id and you'll see what I mean... I'm more often the one that brings out the whiner in other people... people who probably take themselves and the internet way too seriously to begin with...

Sorry about your luck with that ugly intake...
sell it for a ridiculous amount of money to someone else who wants to be "different" and buy this Proton... then you can both be special with your "Limited production" parts on your factory built bikes ;).

again, kidding...

As always, beauty and value are in the eye of the beholder.

If history repeats itself, the Proton will sell for a good amount of $$$.

With the introduction of the Q-5, (A blatent knock-off of the P-4) that particular 'market' may be somewhat saturated, at least to the price point of a Q-5. :dontknow:

get ahold of Stump at stumpwerx.com (ironically that's his email addy too), I think he has some spacers or adapters that will work to space that "ugly" intake out enough to clear the tank...

That was not directed to the P4, the poster got My old custom made intake and it did not fit his F with out another adapter be made. The P4 should fit a F with out any problem.

So who's the cool kid who got it?

xxxrider
10-15-2009, 04:39 AM
I bought if for $700!!! I missed out on the last one that was for sale because I tried to bid $100 less than he really wanted so someone else outbid me and I lost out on that deal so this time when he said $700 I offerred $700 and bought it!!!

It is a UNIQUE and HOT LOOKING AIR INTAKE that you won't see on another bike unless you are extremely lucky because there are only 100 made and I don't know how many are still in use on bikes.

Anyway, I am installing it on Friday and having my 1800R DYNO TUNED after installation so I can't wait to see what it dynoes in at. I had 98.6 HP on my last 1800R!!! This is one of the Last Pieces of Bling that I needed to add to my 1800R with the Custom Paint Job and $16,000 worth of chrome and accessories so I should be about finished with this customizing project!!!

I also paid $700 for an MC Cruise Control which is expensive but worth every penny in my opinion because I am tired of my right hand and thumb going numb.

Yes, I am Impressed with the Quality of Materials and Workmanship in this piece as it is quite heavy and very durable!!!

Good Luck in selling yours as it shouldn't take very long!!!

My DYNO guy just called me and told me that my 1800R dynoed with the newly acquired PROTON-4 AIR INTAKE at 101.42 HP and 116.40 TORQUE!!!

Can't wait to pick it up tomorrow and ride it!!!

My last bike with a Power Commander and VTXEXHAUST.COM modded pipes and a Thunder Teardrop Air Box got 96.45 HP & 111.25 Torque!!!

XHombre

Yes, I will be there at 9:00 A. M. and can't wait to RIDE IT!!!

Actually the last figure of 96.45 HP was for my previous bike.

My current bike dynoed at 88.45 Hp with the Brown County Air Box which was dirty at the time of dyno tuning but I didn't know that until 2 weeks later.

So the ACTUAL INCREASE in HP is 14% which is pretty good considering that I $700 for the Beautiful Chrome Air Intake and $250 for the Dyno.

To get that increase in a Harley would cost you alot more as in thousands of dollars!!!

Thanks Morgan as I had heard that 200 were made and then another person who should know told me 100 and now you are telling me 300.

Oh well, it is an AWESOME LOOKING chrome air intake and I have wanted one for a long time and I can't believe I actually got a chance to buy one.

It really runs super and very smooth.

As I mentioned earlier, mine had the numbers 03/035 engraved on the interior portion of my P4. If my memory serves me well, German Pete initially made the first 35 units himself. He then entered into an agreement with a machine shop to "mass produce" the Proton 4 and an initial run of 100 (I think) was made. The demand for his intake was such that a second run (for 200 units, I think) was commissioned at which point GP and the owner of the machine shop that was hired to manufacture the units got into a legal battle over product ownership and controlling rights, the result of which was that a court ordered that the manufacturing cease and desist. It could be that both production runs were for 200 units each, however I am certain that the total number of P 4s in existence is less than 500 pieces!

I think roughly 60-100 were made the first year or 2, before Hall offered them. Mine is an original from Pete i got about 6 months after he announced them for sale.
