Headed to St. Augustine for a couple of days. Can any one suggest a good Hotel on the beach? Just got power back an hour ago, and need a break, no kids, no dog, no generator! :D

Sorry to hear that. I haven't really seen what the damage was becuase I just got my cable back the other day. I know I had an awesome time in the storm. I live by Colonial down by UCF and we had power the entire time.
We lost it on Sunday for an hour or so, and yesterday we lost it for about an hour. We are very lucky I guess. I got to miss work on Friday and Monday and got paid for it.
Here are some pictures from our little hurricane party (its a shame that girls never want to show up and party during a storm). We had a slip 'n slide and filled my brother's truck up with water.

Vilano Beach is 5 minutes North of St. Augustine, just over the bridge!
The Hampton at Vilano (NOT St. Augustine) has very nice large rooms and the Beach is about 500 feet away. We stayed there three weeks ago and had a great time. Be advised, the Hotel is pricey - $200 a night on weekends.
You also have to go to the Fidler's Green. The restaraunt is a stone's throw from the hotel. Its rights on the beach facing the Atlantic. The seafood is good - make sure you try the appetizer that is stuffed with crab and deep fried.

Lost power here in Azalea Park just after 8:40 pm Friday the 13th and finally got power back at 2 pm on Friday the 20th. I never want to go that long again in Florida's August heat without a/c! I think I have permanent heat rash all over my body.
We were lucky here, lost the top halves of 2 oaks in the front yard and a complete oak in the back yard but, except for the oak in the back, they did not hit the house. The back yard oak scrapped the side of the house as it fell and did minor damage to the gutters and soffitting and came very close to taking the electrical service with it. Lots of fence line damage, a minor leak in the roof over the family room and what seemed like 1000s of limbs and branches covering every square foot of property. No injuries, just a lost dog for about 4 hours early Saturday morning the 14th. I have neighbors who lost homes to massive trees, some who lost roofs to the winds and some who still don't have power, so I'll be helping them for a while yet. Needless to say no one here has been partying.
Besides the family and pets, the most important thing is the 1800 is fine! So, I'll soon be riding again!
Sorry, can't help with places to stay in St. Augustine, but I think we'll be doing the same or similar soon, just to get away from all this for a bit.
