China executes 2 men for defrauding investors

China executed two businessmen for defrauding hundreds of investors out of more than $127 million, calling the scam a serious blow to social stability, state media said Thursday.
China puts to death more people than any other country, although last month a high official for the Supreme People's Court, which reviews every death sentence, said the punishment should be used more sparingly.
Though usually reserved for violent crimes, death sentences are also applied for nonviolent offenses that involve large sums of money or are seen to threaten social order.
The men were executed Wednesday.
China's highest court said the fraud had "seriously damaged the country's financial regulatory order and social stability," the official Xinhua News Agency said.
The report said Du Yimin, a businessman from eastern Zhejiang province, collected more than 700 million yuan ($102.5 million) from investors by promising them monthly returns of up to 10 percent. He spent most of the money on houses, cars and luxury items, Xinhua said.
The second businessman, Si Chaxian, collected 167 million yuan ($24 million) from 300 people by saying they could receive interest of up to 108 percent.
Xinhua said 270 million yuan ($39.5 million) was still missing.
The two were sentenced by the Intermediate People's Court in the eastern city of Hangzhou.

Did they receive a fair trial or a trial?

What punishment should the 300 "victims" who were looking for a 108 percent return receive?

Bottom line:
As long as crime pays....there will be crime!

In terms of securities crimes in America....
The US has the SEC, that is either,
completely inept, or somehow involved with the criminals. :dontknow:

The lack of investigations/ enforcement / prosecutions is amazing.

Being greedy and stupid might not be a crime but could be
classified as a non violent thread to social order

Cheering on China's communist government "legal system" and the death of two humans because you believe your securities regulators are inept and corrupt is to roll over and spread em

Loving your country more if was only a bit more like China is your free right......for now

The way things are headed with US Debt to China and attitudes like yours has left me confused Should I be brushing up on my Spanish or Mandarin lessons so as to remain a good neighbour?

Well, if Mandarin is more than just those little oranges, I'll assume it means Chinese. Learn the Chinese. I wished I could just learn my native language.

Not sure how you got to this result from my comments?
Never voiced any opinion on this.

Well there ya go making stuff up again.:dontknow:

I see you are confused....

My suggestion is to educate yourself as much as you can,
it can only help you in your future efforts.
In terms of a language....
Might I suggest English?
You evidently do not understand it very well.

My comments never said anything about the Chinese actions.
One way or the other. You do not know what my opinion is on that matter.

I did bring up the SEC as our watchdog agency here in the US,
and their apparent lack of actions to protect investors.

I repeat... As long as crime pays, there will be crime.
So YOU understand this let me spell it out....
Once the cost of doing a crime outweighs the profit from said crime,
crime will decease.
