Looking at the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act, I noticed this on its wiki page:

Bans the use of flavors in cigarettes (including cloves, cinnamon, candy and fruit flavors), with the initial exception of menthol cigarettes, the most popular cigarette flavor. The exemption was reportedly influenced by the Congressional Black Caucus and Philip Morris USA, which supported the bill.The Tobacco Products Scientific Advisory Committee provisioned under the bill is to submit a recommendation on menthol cigarettes to the United States Secretary of Health and Human Services no later than one year after its establishment.

Al and Jesse will be screaming this is racial.

I heard comedian Ralphie Mays on TV give the following joke;

If you see a fat white woman standing on the street smoking a Kool or Newport cigarette, Just wait a minute and you will see a half black baby come running up to her.

Do Clove cigarettes contain any tobacco?

If not that law will not apply to them. It applies to tobacco and flavorings in cigarettes.

I wonder how they are still adding flavors to small cigars or the natural sugar curing process of a modura type wrapper. I see flavored little cigars at almost every gas station i use.:dontknow: I assume these are not covered in the act.

I still smoke the same cigarellos that ive smoked for years. They are flavored and are basically a cigarette with a dark wrapper.

Give it time. It will all be outlawed before too long or they'll just raise the price to $15 a pack.

How many U.S. Presidents were smokers ?

Warren Harding, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, and Lyndon Baines Johnson. Two others, Howard Taft and Dwight Eisenhower quit before becoming President. Many others smoked Cigars or Pipes. President Barack Obama admits still smoking cigarettes, but it is unclear if he will kick the habit once he is in the White House.

Anyone else find it ironic that this administration is the one to create a "Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act" ? :?

I love how Obama said that they won't raise middle class taxes when they already have. The recent huge federal tax increase on tobacco products, who does he think that affected? DUH! The middle class. THAT WAS A MIDDLE CLASS TAX INCREASE. But that wasn't how it was portrayed in the media or by the administration. No it was against those big bad smokers who are driving your health care costs up. What a joke!

That's why I quit. I was sick of the cig tax, sick of being looked at like I was a lower class citizen, and figured it's just a matter of time till they're illegal. Then they'll start taxing burgers or some other percieved health demon, and after giving up smoking, I can dam@ sure leave whatever they come up with next by the curb too.:!:
