Recommendations?

Hello,
My wife and I are driving over from Texas to ride for a few days in the eastern Tennessee area. I wondered if any of you had recommendations for a park to stay at and maybe some recommended rides to take around that area? Any help would be greatly appreciated... we'll be there for about 4 days. We're going to pull the bikes behind the burb and then would like to find a park to tent camp in and use that has "home base".

Best advice, hook up with Jeff Hester or any of the other dozen or so VTX Riders from that area and have them show you around.

There are a TON of nice rides in Eastern TN, a lot depends on how long you wanna stay and how far from "Base Camp" are you willing to travel.

There is a bike friendly motel at Deals Gap (Home of The Dragon) and several camps/motels in and around Townsend that should be what you are looking for.

Google the Dragon and you will also find several links to other sites, this will give you a starting point.

Again, I highly recommend trying to hook up with some riders in that area. Only reason we didn't use Jeff when I went up there is because half the group we were riding with had been there at least a half dozen times . . . and we stayed in Athens, which is an hour from the Dragon.

I suggest you camp in the Elkmount campground in the Smoky Mountain National park and that will put you right in the middle of the best riding in east TN>

when are you coming and what are your riding preferences there are quite a few good campgrounds around me and i am centeraly located to the dragon,devil's triangle,fall creek falls st. park or lots of other great roads

I've never stayed here myself but I've heard good reviews about this place. They opened back in 2007 and I occasionally check their website and they have been makeing expansions ever since. They're in the Tellico Plains area right at the end of the Cherohala Skyway. http://www.huntslodge.com
