I'll be heading up to NH on a road trip from Chicago starting Sept 26 or 27th and arriving in NH the 27 or 28th. Any place I should be sure to go while I'm up there?

Where in NH are you heading, that will help us give you more direction and "must" hit places. You should be here in the peak of the foliage season, it hits up north first, then peaks further south, so it's easy to see the best of it by just changing routes.

Let us know and I can give you some good rides up here in the north country.

I'll be staying in Weare one or two nights while im there, but will be doing day trips, or even overnight. Trying to decide if I should just stay in NH/Vt or head up into Maine.

Omni might have some bad news. Check the 10 day forecast. Looks like showers Sun - Tues. So depends where the showers appear. Allot of great roads and destinations. The coast from Weare a little more than an hour and the mts a couple of hours. There are a few riders from the Weare area who view the site hopefully they will pipe in. Good luck on your ride.

My ride of choice during foliage is heading up either route 3 and across 26 into erroll, then up 16 into rangely, Maine. There are a few good places to eat in the center of town, one we go to is a sports bar with great food, then down 17 into rumford/mexico area, you could go back and hit 16 south again, or come across and hit 5 down to fryeburg, then 16 south again. Would be a long day trip, but the views up in rangely on 17 can't be beat!

I checked right before I came back here and saw the same thing. Big bummer. My backup is toward Yellowstone. I really wanted to get the NH colors under my belt though.

I'll watch closely and probably decide Saturday night.

I rode from Raleigh, NC through to Chicago this spring in almost constant rain, about half of it thunderstorms. It was a rough ride...

If you do come over, watch the leaves with the rain, leaves alone are dangerous and slippery, add rain to them and it's treacherous if you aren't careful!

from Weare your only a hop, skip and jump from the sea coast, the Mts. or VT. alot of great back roads down here in the southern part of the state also. You can day trip most of the places. I'm working this weekend or would be glad to catch up with you to show you the area, but if your staying in Weare, you must know someone as we aren't the vacation destination of the state..It does look like rain for part of the weekend, but that can change in a heartbeat around here..have a safe ride up, call if you need anything, hubby will be around both days. our number is on the help board along with the address.
