Biketoberfest

Being new to riding and north FL I need help! I have a couple of friends riding down from TN to go to Daytona for Biketoberfest and I need to know if US1 is the best route, where are the best places to park, eat, what to see... blah, blah, blah. Any pearls of wisdom would be so appreciated! If any of you want to tag along we will be staying and riding from Jax to Daytona.

US 1 is such a dull trip. When I head down to Daytona, I like running along A1A. It is laid back, not a lot of speed demons, and probably one of the prettiest rides in this part of the state. Neat old buildings to look at, water in places, etc etc. If you are headed down, there will be herds of motorcycles on A1A also. Decent places to eat in St. Augustine, I dont know about farther south in Daytona or anything. I know a lot of people seem to focus on Main Street down in Daytona.

I was also thinking about running down for a day, would not stay overnight or anything. Let me know what you got going on.

A1A isn't the fastest, but it's the way to go. Great campground at St. Augustine , Anastasia State Park, IF you can get reservations. If not, you might try around Deland. It's out of the busy Daytona area, but a nice 20 mile ride in and out. :lol:

All good advice. A1A is the most fun. Being in the JAX area it's a day trip easy.

I have done the A1A ride almost to Daytona by myself and loved the ride. I often hit A1A at Mecklers Road and head down to St Augustine and return on US1 or sometimes I reverse it just to come across the bridge just to see the awesome ocean view. Gotta love it. Its a nice ride. How long would it take to Daytona via A1A and what are the recommended MUST SEE sights of Biketoberfest?

Hey guy's! Just want to say that I'm a new VTX rider and I love this horse!! Bought a brand new "03" thats right, an 03 1800 and just love it!!! I've been riding it for about two weeks now, showing it off at work too and the guy's just love it and can not belive how big this thing is. like I tell them, "Go big or don't go at all" 8) . But what I want to ask is that is this a club I can join? Or is it just a bunch of you VTX riders who just get to gether to ride and have a blast!? Which ever the case may be, I would like too join up. feeling a little like the Lone Ranger here. Let a fellow VTX 1800 rider and his gal know. 8)

As far as I know this is not a club and this board is relatively new. We have been trying to get together for some rides and I think a couple of guys have gotten together. They are pretty good about posting when and where they are gonna ride... just join in and make your presence known!

Cool! And I will. Hopfully we all can get together and ride soon. I will be putting my VTX in the bike show at the sunshine mall in Daytona during biketoberfest. The post from Hal. but in the mean time I will be installing some new toy's on the new ride. new pipes and a Hypercharger pro-series airbox. buddy of mine who rides a VTX also works for Honda here in town will be helping me out today with all this. But any how, thanks for the reply and hope to see ya all soon on the road. :)

I rode to Daytona yesterday via A1A all alone, by myself, just me :( :( :(
It was a nice ride with a little rain. I have given up on trying to get others to ride. I must smell bad or something. :roll:

Since you live in Orange Park why don't we meet at Buffalos on wednesday night. Are you aware of that meeting place each week?

Yup! I do know about buffalo's on wednesday night, but unfortunatly I work nights on base, but I think I will make an effort to get out early wednesday and meet ya up there. I went there the first wednesday after I got the X, but there was not alot of bikers there, it had rained early in the evening, but I did see a couple of X's there. Again, I will make an effort to get out of work early to meet ya's all up there. 8)

I have heard about Buffalos but have no clue where it is... I would love to hook up with you guys and ride... I am available most days except Sundays. I was thinking about taking a long ride on Thursday to Pensecola just for the heck of it... let me know if anyone is interested!

LOL!!!! :mcrider: I ride the Illusion Blue "X", but I come on base around 2, 2:30 in the afternoon. I'm with a VS squadron there on Jax. buffalos is on Blanding Blvd in Orange Park, just as soon as you come of 295 south heading into Jacksonville. "The Orange Park" exit. I will try to be there with my wife Wednesday night, thats if she is feeling better. The ol'sick monster has got her down right now, and she hates not riding too. :cry: . but hope to see ya all there, hopefully I will have my new pipes on by then and my new air box too. :D

I will be at Buffalos on wed. You can see my bike in the picture but there have been some changes. It now sports a Tank with black VTX decals. You can't miss it.

Anytime you want to head to St Augustine or Daytona I am up for the ride as long as the schedule permits. I usually need a days notice. Posted a note about a ride west... I am looking at either Thursday or Friday and just hitting I-10 and heading west. I am planning a trip to east TN on my bike in Sept and wanted to get some time under my belt. Let me know what would work out best for you as company would be a blast for a change.

This is the plan... I am planning to head out in the morning of Friday (around 8ish... I am flexible on the time) to hit I-10 and go west probably to Pensecola and then back. I need the experience on the interstate. I don't know where you live so pick a place to meet me and we will head out.

I will also be doing some riding this week. If the weather cooperates I plan to head to Daytona on Tuesday just for the fun of it. It will be an afternoon ride... most likely leaving around 1 or 2P. If anyone wants to tag along let me know and we will set up a place and time.

Well, Daytona on Tues is out.... doctors appt and running errands for the dear husband who is flying USCG helicopters over the RNC in NYC is taking precedence. Sometimes being responsible sucks.

Well, "sigh" :( . I could not get off work at all tonight, had a very heavy flight schedual this evening. Just got home as a matter of fact. How ever, I did get my new pipes on and my PC3 connected over the weekend and man I love it!!!! The X seems more responsive and louder now!!!!! I will be getting my kury-pro air box tomorrow and getting it installed after I get off from work. The X is getting to where I want it. Man I love this Iron Horse!!!! 8)

I got my vacation approved for Biketober Week and I am ready to go. Mike wants to trailer down and my wife wants to ride the bike there????? OK wife wins. :D We need to set a date and meeting time and as many of us that can ride down together. I have another couple with two motorcycles that are coming with me. When we get to Daytona we all can pitch together for the room and share it....... :shock: :shock: :shock:

Oh well, looks like I'll be riding down alone. Can't go on Friday due to a previous engagement with the doctor in Lake City. I will be going down on Saturday.

Tough girl though. she really want to go to the fest.

i am riding down with some friends for the weekend but i'm not sure when they are going. i may ride down on thursday and friday by myself if no one else is going............. i'm not sure if my friends are going friday or sat. we should set up a place to meet in daytona as well in case others are going alone or different times.
let me know what your plans are. it would be nice to finally meet.

I was going down today (Friday) but wife wants to go too, so we'll leave early Saturday. I want to make the VTX show at HDL's at 10. Probably leave Green Cove Springs at 8, take 17 thru Palatka to 100 to Bunnell, not sure which would be better, US 1 or A1A. US 1 will be a madhouse, but it may be a little early. Anyone want to join up let me know. Hope to meet a lot of you at Hal's.
