OK, the Bike Fest is this weekend at Bayou Segnette, who is planning on going? :dontknow:

The weather forecast, as of noon today, was for 60% chance of rain Thursday and Friday, Clear skies Saturday and Sunday.
I would like to do the poker run but hate to do it Saturday when most of the events are going on at the Festival, so if I can't do it Friday I may scratch it in order to enjoy the Festival.:dontknow:

The deal with the Poker Run which I don't care for is, in order to register, you have to buy a gate pass for that particular day, then if you want to complete the Run in one day you wasted most of the day that you paid to attend the festival. I would like to see them let you register for the run outside the gate so if you wanted to do the run on a day that you may not want to attend the festival. This is a mute point though if you buy a weekend pass, but I think most people I spoke to are just planning on attending just one day and they don't want to waste a gate pass riding a poker run. JMHO

Kim and I will be camping on Site 91 Thursday thru Monday morning. Stop on by, say hello, get a bite to eat and something to drink, I plan on smoking a Boston Butt to make pulled pork "samwiches".:eat1:

Hope to see ya there!:doorag:

OK, I'm coming Saturday, by myself if I have to, but it looks like there is a group taking off from New Iberia around 0830 Saturday morning. Just have to be home at a decent time that evening for some birthday parties. Shall we try to have a little M&G Saturday afternoon if possible?????????????????

This sounds good to me, what you have in mind? You want to do a little ride or just a get together? We can do both, I am smoking two big Boston Butts as I type so I you want to have a meet and eat, we can do that also by my camper. I am game for anything, well.... just about anything, nothing Kinky!

I rode through the campground this evening to checkout my new roadhouse exhaust and to look at my campsite. The park was already half full with bike fest related crowd some bikers but mostly vendors.

The evening news called for rain Thursday night and Friday morning, if possible I will ride the poker run Friday evening.

Quick question, do you have to purchase a pass just to enter the park or is there a seperate area of the park that the rally is held that you have to buy a pass to get into?

Yes as far as I know, if it is set up like last year, you had to buy a ticket to get through the main gate.

PM sent.

I would think the after hours gate to the campground will open by 9:00 pm possibly 7:00pm when the front park office closes.

If anyone is looking to ride in Saturday morning and is coming along hwy 90 from Lafayette, there is a group from the VTX Cafe riding in Saturday morning.

http://www.vtxcafe.com/showthread.php?t=36362

They are planning on arriving at the 310 Racetrack gas station at about 10:00 a.m., sort of the same thing we did for the Bike Week in May.

I just meet up with TW and Bob of LaRider.TV on side of the road outside the park. It appeared TW's borrowed Bobber had run out of gas, she switched it to reserve and they were good to go.

Man, what awesome weather we have today! Hope everyone get out to ride sometime this weekend.

I was planning on the poker ride today, I changed my plans, KajunKruzer and his wife is coming spend the night with us so we are going to ride somewhere in the morning. Doubt if we can do the poker run because most of the stops don't open in the early morning but we will ride somewhere, so if anyone wants to join us, post up or call me @ 504-460-3970 and I will let you know what is what on when and where.
I will also make a post later today when we decide were we are riding and what time we are leaving.
Hope y'all decide to join us.:doorag:

Ok, here is what we are going to do, we are going to do a River Road ride to Sunshine bridge on both sides of the river. We are leaving the campsite at 8:00 am and should be by the Luling/Destrehan Bridge around 8:30am. We will leave from the East Bridge first, so if anyone want to join us, you can meet us there.

EJ, yes you can ride to the campsite, we will be glad to have you join us.

Made it back from the Bike Fest in order to watch the Saints game, thought I made a mistake for a little while though. The Saints had a gut check and pulled it out. Go Saints!
I had a good time at the bike fest but was surprised with the turnout on such a pretty weekend weather wise. I did get to do a ride with KajunKruzer, his wife Laurie, and Ggaspard, thanks guys it was fun.
I think a lot of people, mostly vendors, were somewhat disappointed with the Bike Fest this year, wasn't because of me though, I spent too much money on stuff I had to have. It was a thin crowd compared to last year, some said it was due to economy, some said it was due to the bands. :dontknow: I thought they had more vendors than last year, so that was good. I would like to see this festival take off, but judging from this year, something is still missing.
What are the thoughts from those that were able to attend?

It was my first year going, and I was surprised by the turnout. With the cooler weather, I thought there would have been more people. On that same subject, this time of year is tough to draw crowds to anything with football going on. You have prep on Friday and NCAA on Saturday, and I know I was rushing home yesterday to catch the LSU game. I think the admission might also be a major turnoff to a lot of people also. I know the people that put this thing on need to make money or at least break even, but if they want it to work they need to explore other routes, locations, or whatever it takes to lower the gate fee. Although I did enjoy hanging out with those of you I did get to see and talk to, and to me that was worth the trip in itself. Just my thoughts:dontknow:

Gerard, I agree with this, I think they should have done whatever it takes to make the gate pass as cheap as possible until they are established. If they would get local bands, which there are many who draw big crowds, they could have saved some money to help lower the fees. I also think those that did attend would have spent more at the vendor booths if they didn't have to pay so much to get in.:dontknow: JMHO

I personally was very disappointed. There were not a lot of venders and they did not have stuff for my bike. I did like the vender with the Fairings that fit all bikes, but I already have one on my bike. There were way too many things going on this weekend and everyone was spread thin and yes the economy has a lot to do with it. The Washington Parish FREE Fair and the Halloween Parade downtown took away from people spending money on a rally and they could spend time with their kids.

I test rode the spyder for the 2nd time and it still left something missing.

As for the Geico racing. Did all the bikes run 125. I listened to a dozen races and they all were running 125.

The Jambalaya was good.

I agree that the festival had something missing. The bands were not that good and the crowd was less than last year. Maybe they need a band to pull a larger crowd with a lower entrance fee.
Sorry I missed Muller, went by the site about 3:30 and no one was there.

A Big Thanks to Mulla for rescuing a damsel in distress at Bike Fest. Well, that is if you consider TW a damsel. TW and I jumped on a couple of Deep South Chopper's bikes to run an errand Friday and forgot to check if they had fuel. Her's did not.

Thanks Mulla, for staying with her until I could get turned around and back -- and thanks for following us to the service station.

Nice to see so many of you at Bike Fest. Hopefully this event will take off. Louisiana needs a first class rally/festival like this. Barry Lee and Kay Miller are good people and riders who love motorcycles and riding. They are working hard to make New Orleans Bike Fest a first class event. Certainly, there are still kinks to be worked out and the economy right now is not helping.

I am sure they would like to hear your suggestions and comments. They can be contacted here:

http://www.neworleansbikefest.com/53.html

By the way, for those of you who came, Andy Millett (Millett Motorsports) suffered a heart attack early Sunday morning. Please keep him in your prayers.

Glad I was able to help. Sorry I wasn't at the camper when y'all were going to visit.

The definition of Damsel is;
dam·sel http://sp.ask.com/dictstatic/g/d/speaker.gif (http://dictionary.reference.com/audio.html/ahd4WAV/D0018700/damsel) (dām'zəl) http://sp.ask.com/dictstatic/g/d/dictionary_questionbutton_default.gif (http://dictionary.reference.com/help/ahd4/pronkey.html)
n. A young woman or girl

So yes, TW is a damsel.;)

I know Barry and Kay are trying hard to make this event grow and succeed and I hope they successful with it.

My prayers are with Andy, I hope he makes a full recovery.

Hope to see you again soon and looking forward to your segment on the Festival.
