Does anyone know and trust a mechanic or a shop locally that has reasonable prices? I just got a 2005 vtx 1800c with 6500mi and have warranty until December. Want to take it in and see if they can replace or fix anything under warranty. Any input will help, thanks.

Armen34, I have used the Honda dealer in Orange with good results. They are not cheap, but you are under warranty, so it does not matter. Here is there contact info:

P.S., you should learn to do basic service on the bike yourself. It will save you lots of money and you will get to know your bike better.

Actually, I took it to Honda Orange last week for my extended warranty. They basically said that the bike is clean and nothing to worry about, plus my warranty ends in about a month.
I am actually looking for a private shop or somewhere I can take as a backup in case something happens. I know how to do basics like oil/filter change but like tire replacement, brakes, valve adjustments... Thanks for your input.

Well, there are lots of VTX riders on the CA VTX riders website:

There are wrench sessions every year, parties, etc. Most of the guys on the list are pretty good wrenches.
I have a tire changing machine in my garage. Some tools you can borrow to work on your bike. Valve adjusts on the VTX are a PITA for my big hands, but I have done it several times.
