I live in the Jax area but am planning to ride west one day next week just to get a long ride in. Would love to hook up with someone along the way to feel a little like the lone stranger out there. Let me know if you might be interested.

Let me know if you want some company. I went to Daytona via A1A on Saturday. Nice ride but would be better if could get others to ride.

Well, here's the plan... weather permitting. I have wanted to take a long ride on my X kinda in preparation to heading to east TN next month and thought a trip to the panhandle would be a cool trip. Looking at the calendar either Thursday or Friday would be good for me. Now to plan a route... I am so unfamiliar with this area so I need input from you guys. I was thinking about just hitting I-10 and going west for about four hours (wherever that may take me) and then heading back. Company would be wonderful!

Four hours will put you just the other side of Tallahassee. I 10 is one looonnnggg boring ride. Straight as an arrow and nothing to look at. US 90 is the old road with lots of old towns and old whistle stops. I can't say it will be that much better but at least you aren't going 75 mph for hours on end with the wind beating you to death. But your decision. I'll ride anywhere. US 98 would be good too. It is all along the coast but that part doesn't start till you are just below Tallahassee.
What ever you decide is ok with me. Send an e-mail to confirm

That area, (Tallahassee , PC beach and Destin etc..) is my old stomping grounds. Family in Bainbridge which is on the line above tall. Tallahassee is a nice area to ride. Just not in Tall.
I-10 sux. We have some X guy's in that area . floridahawg is in Havannah, just North of Tall.
Use the back roads and enjoy the small towns. Wish I could go but....

You guys have made some interesting points BUT I need to get some interstate time in as I am really thinking about riding all the way up to the Knoxville area on my X and want to see if this is something I really want to do. The other routes sound awesome and would LOVE to do that ride sometime. Tell me when and I will do what I can to be there

Mike and I are too much alike. You speak of interstate time........we talk about trailering the bikes to the riding points and back. Niether one of us have gotten our X's dirty. We dodge the rain clouds and avoid questionable days. I could not with a good thought ride my bike that long with all the bugs sacrificing themselves against my shiney X. It is much too nice to get dirty........ Dave

Yes, the X is nice, shiney, and a joy to ride which is why I like to get as much in as I can. We will see if we can't get some rides together so that you don't get your cherry X tainted.

Okay, maybe I am weird but I enjoy detailing my bike almost as much as I like riding it.
