I received this email today:
The Red Knights Tennessee Chapter 2 and Blue Knights Tennessee Chapter 3,
are joining forces to honor our fallen brothers and sisters from September 11th.
A memorial ride and rally will be held with the first annual event scheduled for
September 10 and 11, 2004.
Sept. 10th:
Early registration at Quality Inn North 1600hrs.
Registration with live band (the Parrot Brothers) and dancing, starts at 1800hrs at Market Square Mall
Sept. 11th:
0800-1015hrs. Final registration and procession line up, begains at the Coliseum Parking Garage.
1028hrs: Ringing of the bell to honor our fallen brothers and sisters. The bell ringing will be followed by Amazing Grace being played on the bag pipes.
Guest speakers will remind us of our proud history, and our nations loss.
1100hrs.
A procession thru Downtown Knoxville, past the firefighter monument, ending back at the Coliseum Parking area. Each bike will be given a name tag of a fallen firefighter or police officer to display on the ride.
1200hrs Drawings for door prizes, followed by 2 to 3 rides. The ride routes are laid so each rider may chose the type ride he/she wants.
Cost: $10.00, the first 300 bikes will receive a commemorative pin, and everybike will receive a nametag of a fallen firefighter or police officer.
Proceeds go to: Medford Volunteer Fire Department
Pinecrest Volunteer Fire Department
and the fallen police officer fund of East Tennessee.
