I hope you guys will excuse me for the "4 sale" post here on the PA X site. I travel a lot throughout PA and am willing to deliver if someone is interested.

I have a First Gear Mesh Tex II Jacket for sale.
Size XXL.
Color Black.
1 year old.
Excellent condition.
Reason for selling: I lost over 50 pounds, had to buy new jacket, size L (2 sizes smaller)! 8)
Will sell for $40 OBO plus shipping.

I will be in Frackville, Williamsport, and Pittsburgh within the next month, and am willing to deliver it free between here (Chester County) and those points.

I also have 2 HJC model AC-3 helmets, size XXL for sale, 1 black, 1 red. Selling for same reason.

Thanks to all who responded to my post on the First Gear Jacket.
I sold it to the first who said "I'll Take It", and I'm currently awaiting payment.

If something happens where the deal is not finalized, I will contact each of you who expressed an interest.

Thanks again.....Steve

Steve,

Just a thought...isn't that the jacket that you were wearing when you were doing all of those belly flops on the cow pies in that pasture? Wow! You were able to get that jacket cleaned? I feel bad for the sucker who buys that jacket!

Just kidding!

Gus

(PS - Congrats again to you on your weight loss!)

Steve,

I meant to ask you about how you liked this jacket. I guess you are happy with it, if you bought a replacement. I have a heavy Firstgear perforated leather jacket, that I like alot.

Do you have the newer model, the Mesh-Tex II, with the liner? And it's also waterproof? Is this the same jacket that John has, or did he make his out of rags? I've seen some of these jackets on sale, cheap. I guess because the cold weather is here. I wanted some protection in the hot weather, without looking like a hockey player or sport biker. I'm actually looking at the yellow (ugh!) jacket, for greater visibility. I bought a white helmet for summer riding, too.

Thanks,
Gus

I love mine. It's water proof as long as it don't rain. I think you should get a pink one. You will really be noticed with that. :D :D

Thanks Ragman,

I knew pink was my color, too. They don't make it in pink. I got the red one, and tried bleaching it lighter. I gave up and threw it into the rag pile. My wife said a ragman with a black VTX came by and took it to wear. Weird, huh?

I find some great stuff in your trash Capt. So the wife caught me huh? Some of the best used rags on the street.

Cheesh! You guys are BRUTAL!

Yes, it's the Mesh Tex II with the liner. The liner is really nice during the "transition" seasons, early fall and late spring, when it's nice to keep the wind OUT instead of letting it IN.

I'm very pleased with the First Gear quality. Both Pat & I wear the Mesh Tex jacket and pants during warm riding weather. When Pat's pants were 11 months old, the zipper broke. Called First Gear's 800 number, and they told us to send them the pants. Had the new ones in less than a week.

Stopped by Planet Honda this evening to get an oil filter. Got the LAST TWO seats on the bus to NYC to the Jacob Javits Center for the International Bike Show on January 23. Sure was glad I stopped in! Are either of you on the bus?

Steve,

Thanks for your helpful evaluation on the jacket.

I didn't know anything about the bus trip. Planet Honda never informs me of anything except the HRCA meetings. I didn't know about that breakfast, either.

Oh well...

I agree that Firstgear is slightly higher quality than Joe Rocket. Although, I do have an older model Joe Rocket leather jacket that is top-notch. I was thinking along the lines of a textile jacket, just because you get more all-around use from it. They usually have zippered air vents, a liner for cool weather, plus are wind and water resistent. I admit that the mesh jackets are better for air flow (cooling). It looks like the textiles would offer more abrasion protection.

Look at the bargain that I found on the discontinued Joe Rocket Atomic textile jackets. Marked down from $149 to $69. They even include reflective piping, armor, and a thermal liner.

Capt, Just my opinion but I would go with the references. I could not think that there is a better jacket than the First Gear. Why would you need a THERMAL liner? This is a summer jacket and I think the simple light weight liner that first gear has is enough for those cooler spring, summer and early fall mornings. A friend at work has a Joe Rocket and it's not near the quality of the first gear. Just my opinion my friend.

Ragman,

Thanks, buddy. Yes, I agree with your assessment. However, a textile jacket is not meant for summer riding alone. They are supposed to be more of an "all purpose" jacket. Hey, the new Firstgear Mesh-Tex 2 jacket even comes with a liner now. Each jacket has it's advantages and disadvantages. I could also overlook a little less quality for $80 in savings, especially for a jacket that I would only wear a few times a year. Firstgear is better, but Joe Rocket is not junk. I didn't decide to get this Joe Rocket Atomic jacket. I was just sharing my Internet surfing discovery.
